Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Türkiye and is awaiting a response from the Kremlin.

Earlier, the official representative of the Turkish leader, Mr. Ibrahim Kalin, said that Mr. Erdogan had invited the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, to Türkiye to discuss and resolve the differences. Erdogan himself said that he wanted to organize a direct meeting of the leaders.

Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated after Crimea's reunification with Russia and amid the armed conflict in Donbass. The Ukrainian government has repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in its internal affairs. In January 2015, Ukraine officially declared Russia an "aggressor state".

For its part, Russia has repeatedly stressed that it is not involved in the internal conflict in Ukraine and is not a subject of the Minsk agreements.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier, Russia did not create any preconditions for the conflict situation around Ukraine. According to him, Russia does not rule out that the rumors about Ukraine, which are being exaggerated by the West, are a cover for Kiev's attempts to sabotage the Minsk agreements in Donbass.

According to Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, US and NATO information about Ukraine is often framed by lies and falsifications.
