Difficulties forge the mettle of a journalist

Since the beginning of 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic has broken out and become more complicated, causing serious consequences to all aspects of life. Journalism has also encountered many unprecedented difficulties and challenges. However, in the midst of difficulties and challenges, the courage and will of journalists have been tempered, the spirit of dedication and companionship with the province has been promoted, demonstrated through the 5th Nghe An Province Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2021.

Previously, the Standing Committee of the award was the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee. From 2021, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to be the Standing Committee of the award. Immediately after completing the Steering Committee and the Steering Committee's Working Group, the Standing Committee of the award quickly advised, urged, and directed the implementation of propaganda in a methodical and scientific manner. Thanks to that, despite the pandemic, the 2021 BLV award was unexpectedly successful in both quantity and quality, the Party building propaganda work was richly demonstrated and had a strong influence. This is demonstrated by the results of the award, with 126 participating works - 30 more than in 2020, including 32 visual newspapers, 18 radio, 41 printed newspapers, 30 electronic newspapers, and 5 press photos. After 5 years of organizing the BLV award, this is the year with the highest number of works and participating units, showing that the effectiveness and attraction of the award are increasingly affirmed.

A new feature of this year's season is that the evaluation work was conducted earlier than previous years, promptly selecting quality works to participate in the 6th National Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in 2021. Based on the Rules and Regulations for judging, the Jury hasSelect 42 excellent worksto rank the awards. (Television 10 works, radio 9 works, print newspapers 10 works, electronic newspapers 10 works, press photos 3 works). In terms of quality, long-term works (especially printed newspapers) account for a high proportion, showing that the topics are invested in elaborately and systematically by press agencies. Radio and television have more interaction with the public; for electronic newspapers, the new, modern forms of expression are longform, megastory, emagazine... The works selected for high awards have good ideological content, are discoverable and creative in expression, and effectively apply modern journalism technology.

In addition to awarding the prize to the oldest author, a reporter for Nghe An Newspaper (in Yen Thanh district) like in the 2020 season, another new feature of this year's season is that the Organizing Committee awarded the prize to the typical character of the work that won the A prize for television work, a Mong character in Ky Son district.

Continue to strongly spread the topic of Party building

The Nghe An Journalist Award has entered its 5th year, increasingly affirming its solid position, the value of the award is widely spread not only to journalists, but also in the political system at all levels in the province. The award also recognizes more works that deeply analyze and dissect "hot" issues that are of public concern, needing to be resolved by Party committees and authorities at all levels. The award not only attracts the participation of a large number of journalists, but also collaborators, press agencies from the central to local levels, departments and branches.

This is demonstrated through specific figures, in addition to the two provincial press agencies (Nghe An Newspaper, Provincial Radio and Television Station) as the main force, collaborators from departments, branches and sectors also actively participated in propaganda, the quality of news articles was quite good, such as: Nghe An Police sent 09 works to the contest, Vinh City Police 02 works, Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee 02 works, Border Guard 02 works, Tuong Duong District Party Committee 02 works. Besides, 8 resident press units located in the province sent 15 works; 12/21 Cultural - Sports - Communication centers of districts, cities and towns sent works to participate in the contest, typically the Cultural - Sports - Information Center of Cua Lo town (07 works), Cultural - Sports - Information Center of Tan Ky district (04 works), in which Tan Ky's works were of good quality and won many awards...

In 2021, thanks to good propaganda work, innovating flexible ways of organizing and responding to the award, suitable to the complicated context of the Covid-19 pandemic; at the same time, identifying key issues, key points, and difficult issues; considering the implementation of the socio-economic development plan, ensuring national defense, security, foreign affairs and Party building according to the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term in the context of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic as both a key political task and a source of topics and inspiration for authors to create press works participating in the BLV award.

The Nghe An Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2021 has come to an end. The success of this award not only stopped at selecting excellent works to award prizes and submit to the Central competition, but also demonstrated the maturity of professional and non-professional writers in composing on the topic of Party building, contributing to improving the quality of propaganda work on Party building in the mass media, building a strong political system.
