Transporting heroin during Tet holiday.

Giàng Thị Sông was hired to transport 72 blocks of heroin for 10 million VND when she was discovered by Border Guards on the morning of the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year).

Song, 34 years old, from Muong Khuong, was arrested at 4:00 AM on February 3rd by forces from the Anti-Drug and Crime Prevention Department of the Border Guard and the Lao Cai Border Guard for illegally transporting narcotics.

The seized evidence included 72 blocks of heroin. Song confessed that he was hired by someone in Dien Bien to transport the drugs from Van Ban district to Muong Khuong (also in Lao Cai province) for 10 million VND. Song then rode his motorbike to Muong Khuong, received the drugs, and was arrested on his way back.

Also on the morning of February 3rd, the operational forces of the Anti-Drug and Crime Prevention Department of the Border Guard Command, in coordination with the Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard, arrested three more suspects and seized 72 blocks of heroin.

Both cases are still under further investigation.
