Upgrading President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Laos
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project to repair and upgrade the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Xiengvang village, Nong Bok district, Khammuon province, nearly 400 km south of the capital Vientiane, was recently held in the grounds of the Memorial Site.
The project covers an area of about 1.5 hectares and has been in use for 10 years. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vu Manh Ha - Director of Ho Chi Minh Museum, Mr. Khampha Phimmasone - Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, leaders and officials of departments and branches of Khammuon province.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Vu Manh Ha emphasized that the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Xiengvang village, Nong Bok district, Khammuon province is a project of extremely important significance, contributing to preserving the tradition of solidarity, loyalty, purity, affection and the special relationship between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.
This project to repair and upgrade the memorial site will create better conditions for serving the needs of visiting and learning about a part of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary life in Laos, contributing to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Mr. Xayalath Phongyalak - Acting Director of the Department of Kaysone Phomvihane Museum and Lao Revolutionary Leaders' Relics said that the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site is an important place in terms of political history, contributing to the people of the two countries' better understanding of the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The upgrading of the Memorial Site is even more meaningful in the current exciting atmosphere, when the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries are together celebrating the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022.
It is known that the upgrading project has a capital of 13,924,721,000 VND, provided by the Vietnamese Government as a non-refundable aid, and will be used to upgrade the project, including upgrading the exhibition room.
The Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Khammuon Province was built by the Vietnamese and Lao governments on land donated by overseas Vietnamese in Laos. The Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Khammuon Province was officially opened in May 2012, becoming the first Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Laos. The memorial site is a complex of Lao and Vietnamese architecture with a landscape of many flower gardens and lakes located right next to the Mekong River, including the main items: Memorial House; Exhibition House introducing the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh, President Ho Chi Minh with the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
