According to the police, through reconnaissance work and understanding the local situation, Bac Giang Provincial Police discovered that in Dong Lo Commune (Hiep Hoa District), a gambling den in the form of dice shaking had been established, attracting many gamblers to participate in gambling with large amounts of money.

To cope, the ringleader organized for the "gamblers" to gamble at a "bunker" location, reinforced with multiple layers of doors, welded iron frames to seal the windows, installed surveillance cameras, and posted guards outside.

On the night of March 1, the Criminal Police Department presided over and coordinated with relevant units to raid Nguyen Van Ngoc's house, broke through the door, and caught 23 people in the act of organizing and gambling.

Seized evidence included more than 280 million VND in cash, 20 mobile phones, 7 motorbikes and a number of other related properties.

During the investigation, the police identified Nguyen Van Ngoc as the ringleader, who organized the gambling den and often organized gamblers to gamble from the previous evening to the following morning. Each gambler had to pay Ngoc a “fee” of 500,000 VND.

Notably, after being arrested, through rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing, authorities determined that 14/23 people were positive for Covid-19.
