(Baonghean.vn) - This is a paradox that exists at Tien Phong market (Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district). Although a solid market was built not long ago, due to many shortcomings, small traders do not sit in kiosks but instead go out onto the street to do business.

Located next to Phu Phuong intersection, where National Highway 48 and National Highway 16 intersect, Tien Phong market promises to be a bustling trading place for people in the mountainous areas of Que Phong district. Photo: Tien Dong
In 2011, Tien Phong market was built on a land area of 4,857m2. This is considered a third-class market with 1 market hall and 9 kiosks. Photo: Tien Dong
Although built on a large plot of land and currently the land fund is still very spacious, this market is almost empty inside. Photo: Tien Dong

Because no one comes to sell, the row of kiosks becomes shabby and dilapidated. Photo: Tien Dong
Inside the main hall of the market, there are more than 10 stalls, but only a few households line up to sell. Photo: Tien Dong

On the contrary, the traders set up their stalls right at the gate and next to the intersection in front of the market. According to many traders here, the market was not properly arranged when it was built, so people did not come in. Not to mention that the traders had to pull their own electricity. Therefore, some households, although they still registered for seats inside the market, because they could not sell their goods, they gathered together to sit on the street. Photo: Tien Dong

Mr. Vo Khanh Toan - Chairman of Tien Phong Commune People's Committee also admitted that in reality, people do not sit in the market to sell but gather in front of the main road to sit. Currently, because the market area is lower than the road surface, every time it rains, water flows from the road down and floods the whole market, so no one wants to go in. Not to mention, due to the habit of people when buying and selling, they just want to stop by the roadside to buy and then turn around and leave, so it is difficult to ask people to do business inside. It is known that according to the Project on developing commercial infrastructure in Nghe An province in the period of 2022-2025, Tien Phong market will be upgraded. However, while it is not known when the upgrade will be implemented, people are still pouring into the streets to trade, regardless of the fact that there is a market inside. Photo: Tien Dong
