The good thing did not happen.

(Baonghean.vn) - Then, the 7 tiger cubs that had been protected and cared for at Pu Mat National Park since August last year found a new home. They were brought to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province.

Those 7 tigers were taken to the Pu Mat Wildlife Rescue Center after a rare animal trafficking case was discovered by the police. Luckily, they were discovered, otherwise they might be eating pig food and growling in some cage right now.

We in the village read online that after 7 months of care at the rescue center, 7 tigers weighed more than 55kg each, especially one weighing 64kg. Each tiger was agile and healthy. The newspaper also said that the time the 7 tigers "stayed" at Pu Mat National Park cost nearly 900 million VND. That was the cost of food, medicine, care, and hiring doctors, technical staff... This amount was supported by a foreign non-governmental organization based in Hanoi. Also because the current care and nurturing conditions of Pu Mat National Park could not meet, the 7 tigers were handed over to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for long-term care. In the future, these Indochinese tigers will be exploited for tourism, serving visitors when they come to Quang Binh.

My village is located right in the Pu Mat mountain forest area. The elders said that in the past, tigers often came to where people lived. They came to catch cows, goats, chickens, pigs of the people, many times they even caught people, causing many tragic incidents. Later, due to war and deforestation, the habitat of tigers and many other animals became increasingly narrowed, especially illegal hunting that caused tigers to become extinct. The last time people went to the forest and saw a tiger was more than 30 years ago.

And then 7 tiger cubs were brought to Pu Mat last year, making people, especially young people and children, eager to go see them. Everyone hoped that they would be raised here for a long time to "show off" and introduce to their friends. But it's a pity. A pity for our Western homeland. If only we had enough facilities and economic conditions, those tigers would still be here, especially Con Cuong district has been focusing on implementing strategies to develop eco-tourism urban areas that are friendly to the environment in the core and buffer zones of Pu Mat mountain forest. It would be great if tourists came here and could directly see the Indochinese tigers. However, that good thing could not happen.
