Nghe An: GRDP growth rate in the first quarter of 2022 reached 6.51%

(Baonghean.vn) - In the first quarter of 2022, the GRDP growth rate of Nghe An province reached 6.51%. State budget revenue in the area is estimated at 4,357 billion VND, reaching 29.1% of the estimate, equal to 94.5% compared to the same period in 2021.

On the afternoon of March 25, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a regular meeting for March 2022.

Reporting at the meeting, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Xuan Duc said that in the first quarter of 2022, sectors and levels will focus on directing and implementing the 2022 Plan, building growth scenarios, setting out key tasks and solutions for direction and management; well organizing activities to welcome the Lunar New Year 2022, ensuring the implementation of social security policies during Tet and focusing on doing a good job of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.

The province's GRDP growth rate in the first quarter of 2022 reached 6.51%. The industrial production index (IIP) in March is estimated to increase by 10.89% over the same period; the cumulative increase in the first 3 months of the year is estimated to increase by 10.26%. The assignment of capital construction plans was promptly implemented as soon as the Central Government's capital allocation decision was issued. By March 20, the whole province had disbursed nearly 540 billion VND, reaching 9.31% of the plan. The service, goods and trade sectors continued to recover. Retail sales of goods in March were estimated at VND6,195 billion, up 16.71% over the same period; the cumulative figure for the first three months was estimated at VND21,558 billion, up 20.54%. Total export turnover in the first three months was estimated at USD544.8 million, up 28.1%; total import turnover was estimated at USD303.7 million, up 22.8% over the same period. Entering March, tourism business activities in the area showed many improvements.

As of March 21, the province has granted new licenses to 30 projects with a total registered investment capital of more than VND 2,652 billion. Adjusted 28 projects, of which the total investment capital of 10 projects was adjusted (an increase of more than VND 12,262 billion). The total newly granted and increased capital is VND 14,914.65 billion. There were 449 newly established enterprises, an increase of 2.2% over the same period in 2021 with a total registered capital of VND 6,018.4 billion. In the quarter, there were 449 newly established enterprises, 374 enterprises returned to operation, an increase of 7.4% over the same period.

The socio-cultural field has achieved many positive results, especially in terms of job creation and ensuring social security. Administrative reform continues to be strengthened; National defense, security, and social order and safety are maintained.

However, the Covid-19 epidemic situation in the area, especially after the Lunar New Year, is still very complicated, affecting economic recovery and development activities. A number of workers have to take time off work to treat and quarantine for Covid-19, causing temporary labor shortages in some businesses. Severe cold weather affects livestock farming and production; Sharp increases in gasoline and oil prices have significantly impacted the production and business activities of people and businesses.

At the meeting, representatives of local and sectoral leaders spent a lot of time analyzing, discussing and evaluating the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks in the first quarter of 2022. At the same time, many opinions were raised on key tasks and solutions in the second quarter of 2022.
