Russia and Ukraine will resume online peace talks on April 1 after the latest round of talks ended in Türkiye on March 30.

Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia said his country had proposed holding a summit but Russia had refused, saying the two sides needed to work more on a draft treaty.

Previously, at the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, Türkiye on March 29, Ukrainian negotiators confirmed that they had proposed accepting neutrality in order to receive security guarantees, meaning Kiev would not join a military alliance or allow foreign military bases on its territory.

The main disagreement between the two sides is still Russia's demand that Ukraine officially accept Crimea as belonging to Russia, after Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014, as well as Kiev's demand that it recognize the independence of the two separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk (collectively called the Donbass region), which have been separated from the control of the Ukrainian Government since 2014./.
