Uncle and nephew 'contributed capital' to drug trafficking, received up to 36 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Having lived many times in prison, Lau Cha Gia and Lau Ba Xia still had the intention of making money from drugs. This uncle and nephew pair "pooled capital" to buy and sell drugs in order to make a profit.
On April 8, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of two defendants Lau Cha Gio (born 1975) and Lau Ba Xia (born 1968), both residing in Nam Can commune, Ky Son district (Nghe An) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
Xia and Gio are uncle and nephew, both have bad backgrounds. While Gio has been in prison 4 times for theft and illegal possession of drugs, Xia has also been in prison 2 times for drug-related crimes.

Regarding this case, the indictment shows that on September 13, 2021, Gio received a phone call from a man named Canh to order 1 to 2 heroin plants and 2 packages of pink phien. The two parties agreed that when they had the drugs, they would bring them to Thanh Chuong district to deliver to Canh, and then receive the money.
Having found a drug dealer, on September 16, Gio went to Xia's house to ask them to contribute money to buy drugs.druggo sell for profit. Xia agreed so he contributed 14 million VND, and Gio contributed 1 million VND. Then, Gio went to the stream area in the forest to buy 28 million VND worth of drugs, paying 15 million VND in advance.
In the early morning of September 18, the two hid drugs in their car and drove to Thanh Chuong district to deliver the "goods" to Canh. However, on the way, the two were arrested by Thanh Chuong district police in coordination with Ngoc Lam Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard, with evidence of 4 packages of various drugs with a total weight of more than 90 grams.
At the trial, the two defendants admitted to their crimes. Both said they contributed money to buy and sell drugs out of greed. However, the two defendants’ “business deal” was stopped by the authorities.
After considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances of the two defendants, the People's Court sentenced Lau Cha Gio and Lau Ba Xia each to 18 years in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
