Thanh Chuong: Nguyen Canh family receives Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 10, in Dai Dong commune, Thanh Chuong district, a ceremony was held to commemorate the ancestors of the Nguyen Canh family and to receive the Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks about national hero Nguyen Canh Chan - Nguyen Canh Di in 2022.

According to annual tradition, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, the Management Board of the relic and the Nguyen Canh family organize a memorial ceremony for the ancestors, to express their respect and gratitude, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source, when eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree" of descendants towards their ancestors and family. This is also an occasion for the descendants of both paternal and maternal families to gather here to light incense sticks to remember the souls of the ancestors of the family.

Nguyen Canh Canh is the biological father of Phuc Khanh district duke Nguyen Canh Huy, the father of 5 Dai Chi. Phan - Tan - Trung - Cuong - Lap were granted the National Historical Relic Certificate for Phuc Khanh district duke's tomb and church by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2013.

The national hero general Nguyen Canh Chan, Nguyen Canh Di was a founding hero of the post-Tran dynasty who continued the tradition of fighting to build and defend the country of previous generations, making great contributions to the history of the nation. He was the ancestor of the Nguyen Canh family in Nghe An.

His descendants continued the military career, many of them were famous and honored by the Le and Le Trung Hung dynasties, including 18 dukes, 76 marquises, many counts and titles, representing the four loyal classes, nine generations of humanity, including Phuc Khanh duke Nguyen Canh Huy and his descendants such as Phan Vo Hau, Nguyen Canh Noan, Minister of War Thai Pho Tan Quoc Cong Nguyen Canh Han, Nguyen Canh Van... The Nguyen Canh family is famous for its noble and prestigious family, worthy of the verse passed down from the ancestors "Cao tien to kao lai, Thap bat dukes tam xi tuong - Dinh - Ly - Tran - Le di hau, Bach du thap khoat nguyen".

With outstanding achievements recorded and recognized by National Archives Center 4, Department of Records and Archives of the Ministry of Interior, on this occasion, the family received the Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks handed over by the Center. The woodblocks are documents collected by National Archives Center 4 from the Nguyen Dynasty for the two National Heroes Nguyen Canh Chan and Nguyen Canh Di.

The Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks are an encyclopedic, priceless, unique work bearing the mark of the times. These are wooden blocks engraved with Chinese characters or reverse Nom characters to print books that were commonly used in Vietnam during the feudal period. The Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks are a valuable documentary heritage in many aspects. The Woodblock documents were produced over 200 years ago during the activities of the Nguyen Dynasty.
