African swine fever recurs in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - African swine fever is currently resurfacing in five districts of Nghe An. Professional agencies recommend that people vaccinate their livestock in the spring and implement effective disease prevention measures.

These days, the loudspeaker system of Nam Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) regularly broadcasts announcements about the disease situation.African swine feverin the commune. Accordingly, from the beginning of February until now, Nam Thanh commune has destroyed more than 1,500 kg of infected pigs, mainly in Tay Ho and Hop Thanh hamlets.
Mr. Hoang Van Sam - Chairman of Nam Thanh Commune People's Committee said: The situation of African swine fever occurring in the commune recently is quite common, however, the epidemic level only occurs in small-scale farming households. The reason for the recurrence of this epidemic is that people buy breeding pigs of unknown origin to restore the herd; the slaughtering of pigs togetherpigstill happening in residential areas...
"In recent days, the locality has discovered many dead pigs that people have thrown away on the roads bordering Khanh Thanh, Long Thanh and Ly Thanh communes. The commune has organized the destruction according to regulations. This is one of the reasons why African swine fever has spread in the area, and the locality is worried," said Mr. Hoang Van Sam.
Information from the Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center said: Currently, African swine fever is occurring in 21 communes in the district: Dong, Cong, Lien, Xuan, Khanh, Ly, Van, Nam, Minh, Trung, Vinh, Tay, Long, Phuc, Lang, Dai, Tang, Bac, Thinh, Duc and Tien Thanh. The total number of pigs destroyed in this period is more than 39,000 kg.

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said that African swine fever is currently reoccurring in 5 districts of the province.Nghe Anare Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Que Phong. However, the epidemic only occurs in small-scale livestock farms.
The reason for the recurrence of African swine fever is that after Tet, people re-herded their pigs but the piglets were not disease-free, of unknown origin, the cleaning and disinfection of the barns were not ensured, and during the breeding process, water from canals was used to clean the barns... which are the sources of disease spread. Therefore, people need to buy piglets that are disease-free, before releasing the piglets, they need to use lime to brush the walls and spray disinfectants inside and outside the barn area; daily pig food also needs to be cooked...
"Currently, localities are implementingvaccinationSpring season for diseases in livestock. Therefore, people need to vaccinate pigs in particular and livestock in general to ensure health and resistance to diseases," Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh recommended./.
