Available atThan Vu Mountain - Dien ChauAt the construction site of the Than Vu mountain tunnel on the North-South expressway, we felt the pressure and haste of the large construction site. Dozens of trucks and cranes were drilling rocks, digging mountains, and transporting soil and rocks where the tunnel doors were opened. Contractors Cienco4 and Hoa Hiep, along with their partners, mobilized hundreds of workers and machinery to construct this "critical road" where the route passes through the most complex terrain.
The route before entering the mountain is a long bridge spanning Xuan Duong Lake, then Than Vu 1 Bridge, Than Vu 2 Bridge on the mountain with carefully calculated terrain to connect to the tunnel through the mountain. Mr. Binh - Head of Technical Department ofPhuc Thanh Hung Joint Stock Company(Dien Chau Bai Vot construction) said that hundreds of workers and officials have stuck to the construction site and the mountains to ensure the progress committed to the Government. Official roads have been opened through the forest to serve hundreds of trucks. Although the construction conditions are difficult and arduous due to being on the mountain and lacking in all aspects, the technical workers still ensure shifts, working all night until 10 pm before resting. On the occasion of the recent Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, all nearly 60 construction teams still stuck to work without rest to ensure progress.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet - General Director of Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company (Project Enterprise) said that the project has a total of 12 bidding packages, including 6 consulting packages; 1 insurance package; 4 construction packages and 1 ITS equipment package.
After being funded, the project enterprise has officially signed contracts for 4 consulting packages (package TV-01 "Supervision consulting"; TV-02 "Survey to establish TKBVTC", TV-04 "Environmental monitoring and supervision consulting during construction phase", TV-05 "Construction quality inspection consulting") and 3 construction packages XL-01, XL-02 and XL-03.
The North-South Expressway Project, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section is about 50 km long, passing through Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km) provinces. The total investment capital of the project is about 11,157 billion VND. The construction time of the project is about 3 years, the operation time to recover capital is about 16 years, 6 months and 8 days. This expressway section is being accelerated.

For the XL-04 package, the Investor VINA2 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company proposed the Contractors to be Licogi13 Joint Stock Company and Thai Son Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company. It is expected that the Project Enterprise will complete the procedures to sign the official contract in April 2022. The remaining 02 Consulting packages will be implemented according to the approved project contractor selection plan (in the second quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2023).
To date, contractors have deployed 57 construction teams with hundreds of motorbikes and equipment. For the Than Vu tunnel project, in March 2022, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee directed Dien Chau district to cut down trees and gradually hand over the site to the investor and the project enterprise. To date, the contractor has completed the service road system on both sides of the tunnel, dug the stage of the north gate of Than Vu tunnel, and is busy digging the tunnel.
The contractor consortium is prioritizing the acceleration of construction of service roads throughout the project, thereby connecting the service roads with major national and provincial highways such as N2, N5, QL48E, QL46A, QL46B, QL46C, QL8A... to transport materials and equipment for construction of the main route and works on the route. Striving to open all service roads to traffic by April 15, 2022 and focusing on construction of the entire route to ensure progress.
