Busting prostitution ring labeled as 'student part-time jobs'

On April 17, Nghi Loc District Police (Nghe An) said that the unit is temporarily detaining Nguyen Ba Thanh (born 1994), residing in Lang Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, to investigate the act of prostitution brokerage.

The operator of this ring is Nguyen Ba Thanh, residing in Yen Thanh district. Thanh is currently a waiter at a karaoke bar in Vinh city. While working as a waiter, Thanh realized the need for “fun” from some male customers, so he “connected” customers with karaoke attendants to organize prostitution.

For customers who want to have fun in Vinh city, Thanh will negotiate a price of 4 - 6 million VND/time. For customers who want to stay overnight in other areas, Thanh offers prices ranging from 12 - 15 million VND/night. Prostitutes receive 9 - 10 million VND, while Thanh takes 3 - 5 million VND.

After a period of monitoring, at 1:00 a.m. on April 16, 2022, at a hotel in Nghi Trung commune, Nghi Loc district, when two couples were engaging in prostitution through Thanh's brokerage, they were discovered and caught red-handed by Nghi Truong commune police and the Nghi Loc district police's General Investigation Team, co-chaired by Nghi Phong commune police, Nghi Loc district.

Immediately afterwards, the police also arrested Nguyen Ba Thanh for prostitution brokerage. Working at the police station, Thanh admitted all his actions.

Nghi Loc District Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
