Prime Minister inspects preparations for SEA Games 31 and encourages Vietnamese sports delegation

Reminding athletes and coaches, the Prime Minister emphasized the spirit of competing with all their might, with the highest determination, for the flag, the colors, for the nation, and at the same time not putting pressure on themselves for achievements, competing with the spirit of sportsmanship, solidarity, honesty, and nobility.

On the morning of April 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and encouraged athletes and coaches and inspected the organization of the 31st SEA Games at the Hanoi National Sports Training Center and the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Palace, My Dinh National Stadium.

Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh and leaders of relevant ministries, branches and units.

Reporting to the Prime Minister and the working delegation, the representative of the Hanoi National Sports Training Center said that, thanks to the focus on construction, two archery and shooting training centers have been completed, ensuring quality and highly appreciated by experts. The center is reviewing and preparing the best conditions for food, accommodation, and medical care for coaches and athletes to practice with peace of mind. The staff, coaches, and athletes of the center will strive to compete, with high determination to achieve the goal of winning more than 100 medals at this SEA Games.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his best wishes to all officials, athletes and coaches, and acknowledged the authorities for their attention and creating conditions for the teams to practice seriously and with the highest effort, despite difficulties, especially in the context of the recent complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister shared with the athletes and coaches the difficulties and challenges; commended the efforts of the athletes, coaches, teams and relevant agencies in the past time.

The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnamese athletes, coaches, teams and sports delegations will continue to maintain solidarity and unity, promote results and achievements over the years, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, and actively practice mentally, physically and professionally to prepare for the best and highest possible results at the 31st SEA Games.

At the same time, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, agencies and localities to continue to coordinate closely, ensure the progress of preparations for the 31st SEA Games, ensure the organization of the Games successfully, safely and professionally. The Prime Minister reminded agencies and athletes to pay attention to doing a good job of epidemic prevention and control, not to be subjective or negligent with the epidemic, and ensure epidemic safety for the Games.

The Prime Minister emphasized: SEA Games 31 is an opportunity and favorable condition for Vietnamese sports to demonstrate their bravery and strength, and achieve the highest results. This is also an opportunity for the host country to proudly promote the image and people of Vietnam to international tourists.

The 31st SEA Games will open on May 12, 2022 in Hanoi and 11 neighboring provinces and cities, and close on May 23. The Games will hold 40 competitions with 526 events with about 10,000 participants./.
