On the afternoon of April 21, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference on dialogue with businesses and promoting export activities in 2022. Comrades: Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Pham Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade chaired the conference. Also attending were representatives of relevant departments and branches, and a large number of businesses with import and export activities in the province.

In 2021, the complicated epidemic continues to greatly affect the socio-economic development situation. However, with the efforts of the business community and the direction of authorities at all levels,export turnoverNghe An's export turnover grew remarkably, reaching 2.43 billion USD, an increase of 60.77% compared to 2020. Of which, goods export reached 2.11 billion USD, an increase of 76.04%, exceeding 132.2% of the annual plan.

The export market is diverse with more than 125 countries and territories in the world. Some new export markets in the year are: East Timor, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Marshall Islands, Luxembourg. The number of exporting enterprises increased with 270 enterprises in the province, including 188 domestic enterprises and 82 enterprises from other provinces participating in exporting goods of Nghe An province.

In 2021, the import turnover of goods reached 994.2 million USD, an increase of 35.26% compared to 2020. The main imported goods are textile and garment raw materials, footwear, electronic components, petroleum, machinery, equipment, steel of all kinds, other raw materials for production, etc. imported from more than 50 countries and territories around the world.

Speaking at the conference, business representatives shared some difficulties in import and export activities such as labor recruitment, seaport infrastructure, transportation costs, inadequacies in customs work, tax refund documents, etc. At the same time, they made some recommendations to the relevant authorities to remove difficulties and promote import and export.

In the first quarter of 2022, although the export turnover of goods continued to grow positively, reaching 544.8 million USD, an increase of 28.1% over the same period last year. However, businesses still continue to face many disadvantages. Notably, China's new regulations on measures to tighten the Covid-19 epidemic, strengthen supervision, and strictly implement regulations on activities.Import of agricultural and aquatic products onThe land border has caused many difficulties for businesses in transporting, clearing customs, and exporting agricultural products to China.

The military conflict between Russia and Ukraine has caused many businesses to lack production supplies, and export activities to Russia face many risks in transportation, payment, and increased costs, etc.

After listening to the presentations of businesses and giving directions at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved in import and export activities.

To achieve the export turnover target of 2.35 billion USD in 2022, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, districts, cities, towns and related enterprises to continue to synchronously implement solutions to boost export turnover. Promote the development of export markets through activities connecting export supply and demand, participating in international fairs and exhibitions, organizing trade connection delegations... to seek and diversify consumption markets for the province's export products, avoiding dependence on one market to limit risks.

The province will continue to promote investment and call for domestic and foreign investors to Nghe An to invest in export production...

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 enterprises for their outstanding achievements in export activities in 2021.

The conference also deployed the Project "Export Development of Nghe An Province in the period of 2021-2025" with the following goals: By 2025, the total export turnover of goods will reach 4.0 billion USD; The average growth rate in the period of 2021 - 2025 will reach 27.2%/year; Increase the proportion of processed industrial goods exports from 83.6% in 2020 to 90.4% in 2025; Reduce the proportion of minerals and fuels from 7.68% in 2020 to 3.92% in 2025; Budget revenue from the export and import sector in the period of 2021-2025 will reach 7,700 billion VND.
