Indictment issued in case of girl being abused and killed
Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy prosecuted defendant Nguyen Vo Quynh Trang for "Murder," while defendant Nguyen Kim Trung Thai was prosecuted for "Torturing others" and "Concealing criminals."
Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy has issued an indictment to prosecute two defendants in the case of "Murder,""Torture others"and "Concealing a crime" related to the case of an 8-year-old girl being tortured to death at the Saigon Pearl apartment building (92 Nguyen Huu Canh, Ward 22, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).
The Procuracy prosecuted the defendant Nguyen Vo Quynh Trang (born 1995) for the crime of "Murder" according to Points b, n, q Clause 1 of Article 123 and the crime of "Torturing others" according to Point a Clause 2 Article 140, Penal Code 2015 (amended and supplemented in 2017).

Defendant Nguyen Kim Trung Thai (born in 1985, father of baby NTVA) was prosecuted for the crime of "Torturing others" under Point a, Clause 2, Article 140 and "Concealing a crime" under Point b, Clause 1, Article 389, Penal Code 2015.
According to the indictment, Nguyen Vo Quynh Trang lived as husband and wife with Nguyen Kim Trung Thai and with Thai's stepchild, NTVA (born June 28, 2013) at the Saigon Pearl apartment building.
During the time living together, due to anger at Thai's family not allowing Thai to marry Trang and Thai not wanting to have children with Trang, during the time Trang was at home with A. studying online, from December 7, 2021 to December 22, 2021, Trang used her hands, feet, wooden sticks, whips, and metal rods (which were hoses from a vacuum cleaner) to brutally beat and torture A. in many different ways, for many days and many hours.
From 2:51 p.m. to 6:06 p.m. on December 22, 2021, Trang used her hands, feet, and a wooden stick as a dangerous weapon to beat and kick A hard, continuously, and repeatedly in vital areas of her body, causing A to die before being taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
On December 7, 10, 11, and 12, 2021, Nguyen Kim Trung Thai witnessed Trang beating and torturing child A many times but did not stop her, and even joined Trang in beating and torturing child A.
On December 22, 2021, after learning that Trang had beaten A to death, Thai logged into the camera management application and deleted all data from 4 cameras in the apartment to conceal Trang's crime.
The Procuracy determined that the criminal acts of defendant Nguyen Vo Quynh Trang violated the life, health, honor, and dignity of others, especially crimes against children.
During the time living with Thai and A, Trang was mentally normal, but for many consecutive days and hours, Trang used her hands, feet, sticks, and metal rods to beat, torture, and humiliate A physically and mentally.
On December 22, 2021, Trang used a dangerous weapon to brutally and brutally beat A's vital areas for nearly 4 hours, leading to A's death.
Nguyen Kim Trung Thai is the person who directly raised and took care of child A. He saw Trang beating and torturing him for many days and hours, but he remained indifferent, did not stop or take action to protect or shelter his child. At times, Thai even beat and tortured child A with Trang, helping Trang to torture child A.
The actions of Trang and Thai have caused public outrage and condemnation, and must be strictly punished by law./.
