The First Temple was built during the Le Dynasty to worshipThe Great King of the Sea, Hoang Ta Thon- a famous general who had great merit in repelling the Yuan invaders during the Tran Dynasty in the 13th century. He was once awarded the title of Sat Hai Chang Lai Dai Tuong Quan, and was given the title "Minh Tu" as a general commanding the navy to guard 12 seaports, protecting the coastal area. The main gate has 3 floors. The first floor is built in the style of a city gate, with a round arched door. Above the forehead is a fierce tiger. On both sides are reliefs of a phoenix spreading its wings, and two majestic generals. In front of the wings is a pillar, made in the style of a square pillar with a tapered bottom, with a star fruit-shaped cylindrical shape on top. The second floor is smaller, with a square window, decorated with a gate motif. On the third floor is a sun. According to the relic management board, during the war years, many temples and pagodas in the area were damaged and dismantled to make way for civil works, so statues, Buddha statues, sacrificial objects... were brought to De Nhat Temple by local people. On the right side of the temple (looking from the inside out) is the Van Hoi stele carved from green stone. This is a large, rectangular stele, over 2.2 m high, with stylized floral motifs on the border. In the middle of the stele are engraved many Chinese characters. In addition to wooden statues, the temple also preserves many stone artifacts, notably two turtles and a stone mortar that looks like a lime pot. In particular, the three-legged turtle was crafted from an old bamboo root. The bamboo turtle weighs about 25kg and is about 0.5m tall. According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hong, the bamboo turtle was crafted by local people and has been worshiped in the temple for a long time.
