Deploying cooperation tasks in 2022 between Military Region 4 and armed forces of Lao provinces

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 17, Military Region 4 and Division 1, Division 4, Military Commands of Vientiane, Xay Xom Bun provinces and Military Commands of Lao provinces sharing borders with Military Region 4 held a Joint Conference to deploy cooperation tasks in 2022.

Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Military Region 4 and Major General Un-Chan-Deng Van Som, Division Commander of Division 1, Head of the Lao People's Army working delegation co-chaired the Conference.

Over the past years, Military Region 4 has coordinated with units and localities of Laos to effectively carry out the work of building political, military, political, logistical and technical bases, building clusters of villages and projects in Laos, and searching for and gathering the graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos. The two sides have coordinated well in propaganda and education work for officers and soldiers of the two countries' armed forces about the traditional history, the close friendship and solidarity between the two peoples, the plots and sabotage tricks of hostile forces, continuing to maintain and promote the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos; firmly grasping the security and political situation along the border, maintaining economic and social stability.

Specifically, from 2019 to present, Military Region 4 has implemented a project to cooperate in maintaining, repairing and upgrading essential construction items in 07 clusters of villages with a total amount of 53.2 billion VND; organized medical examinations, treatment and free medicine distribution for 7,698 people, worth 1.5 billion VND; issued 124 free medical examination and treatment numbers for 124 households/262 people belonging to poor households and policy beneficiaries... The Military Region has completed, handed over and put into use projects, notably: Phon Xa Van town gifted school, Xieng Khouang province; repaired essential construction items in 07 clusters of villages; renovated and upgraded Nam Loong irrigation system, Hua Phan province; Xay Xom Bun Provincial Military School... During the Covid-19 pandemic, localities, units and the Military Region 4 Command supported the Lao Army and localities with medical supplies to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic worth tens of billions of VND.

In particular, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command supported and helped build a Reconnaissance Company house for the Xieng Khouang Provincial Military Command according to the Project of the Provincial People's Committee, worth 2 billion VND (completed and handed over for use in March 2022); advised the Provincial People's Committee to support goods, medical equipment and supplies to help the people, the Xieng Khouang Provincial Armed Forces and the Hua Phan Provincial Military Command in preventing the Covid-19 epidemic, worth 2 billion VND.

In addition, Lao units and localities have actively helped units of Military Region 4 in searching, collecting, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who died in Laos. As a result, from October 2019 to present, Military Region 4 has searched for and repatriated 489 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos to Vietnam solemnly and thoughtfully, demonstrating the special affection between Vietnam and Laos.

At the Conference, the two sides signed a 2022 cooperation memorandum agreeing to cooperate and coordinate to effectively implement the contents on the basis of cooperation policies and plans, contributing to maintaining the situation and creating conditions for stable construction and economic development in the border area of ​​the two countries Vietnam - Laos.
