Heavy rain on May 20 and 21 caused flooding in many localities in Anh Son district.Especially the communes along Lam River were heavily flooded, many rice fields were submerged in water, ponds, dams, and fish cages suffered considerable losses. Among them, Cao Son commune was the most severely affected. According to statistics, many rice fields during harvest season of the people (190ha) were completely flooded, filled with mud and soil; 30ha of ponds were flooded, fish spilled out.

“Currently, people have only harvested 50/240ha of rice, the area that has not been harvested yet is submerged in water. Saving the rice is “force majeure” when drainage is difficult because the water level on the Lam River is currently high. The government is coordinating with the people to closely monitor the weather, mobilizing people to use boats to help each other harvest as the water recedes.

Currently, the locality is organizing inspection teams to review and count the damage; mobilizing forces to repair landslides to serve people's travel. Currently, the entire melon area is producing young fruit, some areas will be ready for harvest in about 10-15 days. However, after the last two rains, 20 hectares of melons were flooded, the mud caused root rot, wilted plants; many areas of green melons and young melons were crushed and rotten. In the near future, if the sun is strong and the temperature is high, the risk of the melon plants wilting is very high; farmers will likely lose everything, with estimated losses of 6 billion VND.
