After Ms. Nga's cries for help, dozens of villagers showed up to help the family move all their belongings outside.

Ms. Nga's house is quite solid, located right in front of the Chau Hong commune headquarters. Mr. Truong Van Hoa - Chairman of Chau Hong commune People's Committee said that upon receiving the news, he immediately sent police officers to help the family move their belongings, and at the same time put up warning signs, prohibiting people from entering the house to ensure safety.

The scene shows that this “death hole” is quite wide, deep and is gradually sinking. This hole is located right under the bedroom of Ms. Nga and her husband. “This hole was initially only about 1 meter in diameter, but after 2 hours it has widened to 8 meters. There is a high possibility that the house will collapse,” Mr. Hoa said, adding that, like many other houses in the village, Ms. Nga’s house had previously shown many cracks.

According to the latest report of the Chau Hong Commune People's Committee, up to now, there have been 299 dry wells, 191 cracked houses, and dozens of "death holes". Meanwhile, the whole commune has only 900 households. Many schools and medical stations in the area are also in a similar situation. The most serious are the cracks at Chau Hong Secondary School, threatening the lives of hundreds of teachers and students.

In addition, the Chau Hong commune headquarters, which was invested with billions of dong, has only been accepted for 1 year but a series of cracks have appeared along the wall, nearly 2cm wide...

Chau Hong is considered the mineral capital with 11 mineral mining enterprises, including 5 ore mining enterprises and 7 stone mining enterprises. People and authorities of Chau Hong commune believe that the cause of subsidence and unusually dry wells is due to mineral mining depleting groundwater resources.
