Although many Ford Ranger pickup trucks have rusted parts under the hood, some Ford dealers have not yet given a specific cause and only have taken "just to get it over with" measures to solve the problem, causing confusion among users.

After the news of Vietnamese customers being shocked to buy rusty Ford Rangers, a series of owners of this car model also spoke up that their cars were also like that even though the cars were still new. Most of the rusty models are from 2021 or 2022. Whether it is a domestically assembled product or an imported car, consumers still detect this condition.

It is known that the American brand has started selling Ford Ranger models assembled in Vietnam instead of importing them completely from Thailand since last year. However, all the assembled components are still imported, so the Ford Ranger is still like an imported car, the localization part only includes the assembly cost.

According to statistics, about 100 consumers using Ford Ranger pickup trucks, spread across many provinces and cities across the country, have encountered rust in the engine compartment. And instead of trying to find a way to thoroughly solve the problem, ensuring the reputation of the manufacturer, Ford dealers selling cars directly to consumers often have superficial and ineffective actions.

A typical case is that of Mr. S., residing in Binh Thuan province. He is currently using a 2022 Ford Ranger with signs of extensive rust on the details under the hood. He bought the car at the Ford Binh Thuan dealership on April 30, 2022 for VND 870 million and it was not until May 20, 2022 that he discovered heavy rust spots even though it had only traveled 3,200 km to date.

Mr. S's new Ford Ranger has extensive rust.

After discovering this, he reported it to the Ford Binh Thuan dealer to find out the cause and fix the car's weakness. However, Mr. S. later said: "When hearing my feedback, the dealer also came to my house but only checked very quickly and then sprayed a cleaning solution on the yellow stains. Temporarily, these rust stains have faded a bit, but I don't know how long this situation will last because the dealer also did not report any specific reason."

Another car owner named NV also reported the rust condition of his Ford Ranger pickup truck. He bought it at the Hanoi Ford dealership, located at 13 Truong Chinh Street, Khuong Mai Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi, for 750 million VND. Currently, his car has traveled 25,000 km and discovered rust spots similar to Mr. S's car. What he worries about most is not knowing the safety level of the car, especially when he sees many other car owners also reporting the same situation as him.

Rust condition on Mr. NV's car

Not only domestically assembled cars but also imported products from Thailand are still "affected" by this phenomenon. This is proven by the car of Mr. D.XT, currently working in Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province. He bought a 2021 Ford Ranger imported from Thailand for 680 million VND at Ford Thu Do dealer, located at 5 Ngoc Hoi, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi. Currently, the car has only traveled nearly 8,000 km, is still very new but has rust in the engine compartment.

According to the number of kilometers traveled, Mr. D.XT's car is still new.

After reading the article reflecting on many rusty Ford cars in the newspaper, the owner directly checked the car and responded to the reporter on May 26. After that, this person also called to report to the dealer. Recalling the dealer's response, Mr. T. said: "At first, when I reported about the car, Ford asked me to take the car from Lao Cai to Hanoi to check the situation. But how could I trust to drive the car more than 300 km without knowing what was wrong with it, so I decided not to accept the request. After that, Ford Thu Do contacted me again, the person on the other end of the line just smiled and explained very generally, saying that this was not a serious problem."

Heavy rust stains appeared on Mr. D.XT's car.

Currently, Mr. T. still uses a Ford Ranger pickup truck for his daily travel needs. However, what he worries most about now is that when his car's warranty expires, the rust stains will seriously affect the car and he will have to bear all the repair costs.

As soon as the series of articles reflected on rusty Ford cars and the superficial handling of the dealers, many Tien Phong readers spoke up to reflect on some irresponsible car shops. A reader with the display name Karache said: "I am planning to buy a Ford Everest but with the situation where the seller does not take responsibility when the car has problems, I give up."

Another reader also spoke up: "Dealers who handle situations like this should be avoided. Don't buy anything from them again!"

In addition, some readers continue to complain about the quality of American brands. Another person even affirmed that his car has been used for 15 years but the details in the engine compartment are not as heavily rusted as many new Ford Ranger pickup trucks today.

In the market, Ford Ranger is still one of the most prominent names in the pickup segment in Vietnam. However, they are in a fierce competition for sales from rivals such as Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux or Mitsubishi Triton. Therefore, the fact that some dealers deliberately sell price channels and handle customer feedback on product quality superficially can greatly affect the reputation of the manufacturer. No one wants to spend nearly a billion VND to buy a car and then when they see something unusual, they only receive a smile and a vague explanation from the seller.
