(Baonghean.vn) - On June 4, the National Assembly Delegation and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam visited and worked in Nghe An to promote cooperation in the coming time.

The delegation included Mr. Wojciech Gerwel - Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam; Tomasz Latos - Member of the Polish Parliament; Paweł Bejda - Member of the Polish Parliament; Alexander Nowakowski - Third Secretary of the Polish Embassy in Vietnam; Nguyen Thi Huong Giang - Economic Specialist of the Polish Embassy.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; leaders of the Department of Health, Provincial General Hospital of Friendship, and Vinh University.

On the morning of June 4, the National Assembly Delegation and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site (Nam Dan district).

In the sacred atmosphere, the delegation expressed deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh - the great leader of the Vietnamese people.

He devoted and sacrificed his whole life to the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, fighting for peace and progress in the world. President Ho Chi Minh was honored by UNESCO as a National Liberation Hero - an outstanding cultural celebrity.

Next, the delegation visited and worked with the leaders of the Provincial General Friendship Hospital. This is one of the medical centers in Vietnam that was supported by the Polish Government to build after 1975.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong - Director of the Hospital said that since 2014, the hospital has moved to a new facility but has always received support in terms of machinery and medical equipment from the Polish Government. Since then, it has helped doctors and nurses bring happiness to more than 20,000 pediatric and obstetric patients and over 800 critically ill newborn patients.

"The Provincial General Hospital hopes to continue receiving support, cooperation and assistance from the Polish National Assembly, Government and Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vietnam, thereby contributing to helping the hospital soon become a special-class hospital by 2025," said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong.

The three areas in which the hospital hopes to receive support and assistance include: training and transfer of medical techniques; support for medical equipment serving medical examination and treatment, especially obstetrics and pediatrics; and funding support for building facilities to expand the hospital's scale.

Mr. Wojciech Gerwel - Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam sincerely thanked the cooperation between the hospital and the Embassy in the past time and said that this cooperation has become a great symbol of friendship between Poland and Vietnam.

Expressing admiration and gratitude for the dedicated contributions and great responsibilities of the health sector in general and the medical staff at Nghe An General Hospital in particular, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam pledged to propose to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue to provide more practical support for the hospital in the future.

At the meeting, Polish MP Tomasz Latos and Polish MP Paweł Bejda discussed in detail the contents that the Provincial General Hospital of Friendship wishes to cooperate and assist. At the same time, they committed to having discussions with the relevant authorities and speaking out to promote cooperation and greater assistance to the hospital in the future.

The delegation of National Assembly members and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam and the leaders of the Department of Health, the Provincial General Hospital also had a deeper discussion on the activities of Nghe An General Hospital as well as Vinh Medical University. On that basis, the National Assembly members and the Ambassador will have more practical and effective support and assistance. Thereby, deepening the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Poland, which has a history of 72 years.

On the same afternoon, the delegation of the National Assembly and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam visited and worked with Vinh University. After listening to the school leaders introduce the scale, training program, vision and development orientation, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam emphasized that the common point of the two countries is that they attach great importance to the field of education and training, and in Poland, this is a key field in the National Assembly.

Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam Wojciech Gerwel said that the cooperation between Poland and Vietnam in the field of education is demonstrated by the fact that more than 3,000 Vietnamese students have gone to Poland to study and research.

And now there are many people holding important positions in agencies and units in Vietnam. On the other hand, the Vietnamese community in Poland is very strong, ranking 4th among the Vietnamese communities in Europe.

In the future, Poland wishes to continue its cooperation with Vietnam in general and Nghe An province in particular in the field of education and training. Poland also has many scholarship programs for Vietnamese officials, researchers, students and pupils. Therefore, Vinh University students will have many opportunities to receive scholarships in Poland.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation opportunities in the fields of agriculture, medical training, etc. International students who have lived and studied in Poland shared their opinions and hoped that the Polish Parliament and parliamentarians would have many policies to support Nghe An province in general and Vinh University in some areas where Poland has strengths.
