Russian Navy starts building a series of new military ships
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the "Russia Day" celebration on June 12, the Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg (Russia) announced the start of construction of two new diesel-electric submarines of Project 677 Lada Class.
“The Vologda and Yaroslavl submarines are the fourth and fifth vessels built for the Russian Navy under Project 677 at the Admiralty Shipyard,” the statement said.

According to the Smolny press agency, Vologda and Yaroslavl are two modern multi-purpose diesel-electric submarines of the Russian Navy. The ships are 66.8 meters long, capable of diving to a depth of 250 meters, have a maximum speed of 21 knots, and a submerged displacement of 2,650 tons. Modern weapons and equipment help the Vologda and Yaroslavl submarines successfully carry out reconnaissance operations and ensure security for Russia.
On Russia Day, Moscow started building six new ships for the Russian Navy. In addition to the two submarines Vologda and Yaroslavl mentioned above, the minesweeper Polyarny of Project 12700 was ordered at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard. This is the 10th minesweeper of Project 12700 to be built at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard and the first to be equipped for the Northern Fleet.
Also on June 12, at the Amur Shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur city, the Project 20385 corvette “Reasonable” was laid down for the Pacific Fleet, and is expected to be handed over to the fleet in 2027.
In addition, at the Zelenodolsk Shipyard, two research vessels of Project 03182 for the Russian Navy have also begun to be laid. These two ships are named in honor of the Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Army, Admiral, founder of the Soviet Naval Intelligence School, military diplomat Leonid Bekrenev and the Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy, Vice Admiral, head of the Soviet Navy Intelligence Boris Bobkov.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony at the Admiralty Shipyard, Russian Navy Commander - Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov said that by the end of 2022, the Russian Navy will receive a total of 46 warships and logistics ships./.
