On the morning of July 2, from the Government headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh chaired an online meeting on prevention and control of storm No. 1, internationally named CHABA, with the strongest winds at level 11-12, gusting to level 15.

This is the first storm of the season. Although the storm's intensity has decreased, its development is still complicated, and it can reach a maximum level of 11-12, with gusts of level 15 at sea.
In recent days, the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the National Committee for Natural Disaster Response, Search and Rescue, and ministries, branches and localities have proactively deployed response plans. The Steering Committee has issued official dispatches; last night, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 564/CD-TTg on storm prevention and control.
This morning's meeting was attended by 16 northern provinces and cities at online television bridges.
According to a quick report from the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of 6:30 a.m. on July 2, 59,967 ships/269,462 people have been instructed to proactively move to avoid the storm, of which, by 12:00 p.m. on July 1, all ships had escaped the danger zone.
Regarding the initial damage as of 7:00 p.m. on July 1, 2 ships/8 workers from Quang Tri province sank. Currently, 8 fishermen have been rescued safely.
According to the Steering Committee's report, on July 2-3, in the Northeast, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 50-150 mm, with some places in the Northeast region receiving over 200 mm. From July 4-7, due to the influence of the low pressure trough, there will be showers and thunderstorms in the North, with locally heavy rain.

On the sea dikes and river estuaries from Quang Ninh to Ninh Binh, there are currently 32 key points and vulnerable locations; 14 dike, culvert, sea embankment and river estuary projects are under construction, all projects have been built to the design elevation, and auxiliary items are under construction. There are solutions to ensure safety.
Regarding agricultural production in the provinces of the Red River Delta and the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the total winter-spring rice area is 728,000 hectares, of which about 670,000 hectares have been harvested (reaching 92%); the remaining rice area of 58,000 hectares is in the ripening stage and is ready for harvest.
The total area of winter-spring rice planted is about 100,000 ha/882,000 ha as planned (reaching 11.3%). The provinces have prepared plans to drain water for newly planted rice areas.
The population in areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is 52,794. Localities have informed, warned and prepared plans to evacuate and relocate people to safety.
