(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 20, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2022), comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the provincial delegation visited and offered flowers and incense at the Railway Martyrs Cemetery, Rocket Cave and visited and presented gifts to war invalids and sick soldiers in Hoang Mai town.

Also attending were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Provincial Military Command and Hoang Mai town.

Rocket Cave in Quynh Thien Ward, Hoang Mai Town is a place that marks the heroic feat of the Railway Youth Volunteer Force. During the resistance war against the US, this place was near the Hoang Mai Railway - a traffic route with an important strategic position in supporting the South, and was a frequent target of US air strikes.

To protect this vital traffic route, the youth volunteer force of Group 4, Unit C271, Team 27 of the Youth Volunteer Force chose the Fire Rocket Cave to take shelter during their time serving to protect the vital traffic route in the Hoang Mai area. On April 28, 1966, while taking shelter in the cave, an American plane fired a missile, killing 33 youth volunteer soldiers.

On April 27, 2011, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed Decision No. 1410/QD - BVHTTDL recognizing Rocket Cave and Railway Martyrs Cemetery as National Historical Relics.

In a sacred and respectful atmosphere, at the locations of the relic cluster including: Memorial House, Railway Martyrs Cemetery and Rocket Cave, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong and the working delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the 33 heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Next, comrade Nguyen Van Thong and the delegation visited and presented gifts to Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, born in 1955 and currently living in Quynh Di ward. Mr. Tien is a 4/4 class disabled soldier and 2/3 sick soldier.

Despite suffering many injuries from the war, he actively participated in local work, became Chairman of the Veterans Association, and made many contributions to the Association's work; his children were well-behaved and successful. He has 4 children, currently 1 is a doctor, 1 is an engineer, 2 are in school. The family is exemplary, leading in local movements.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong and the delegation visited and presented gifts to Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, born in 1956, currently living in Quynh Xuan ward, Hoang Mai town. Mr. Dai is a 4/4 class disabled veteran. Returning to normal life, he is a good businessman of Xuan An parish, actively participating in the Veterans Association movement and from 2015 to present has been the head of the Front work committee.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited the health and all aspects of life of the veterans' families; at the same time expressed his respect and deep gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of the comrades to the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland.

Affirming that Party committees, authorities and society at all levels always have deep affection and concern for war invalids, sick soldiers, families with meritorious services to the revolution, comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee wished the veterans good health, to rise up in life and, with their prestige and responsibility, to continue to actively participate in social work in the locality, thereby contributing to building an increasingly developed community.
