Talks between the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province and the Military Command and Public Security Directors of 3 provinces of Laos

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 22, in Vinh city, a meeting on border management and protection, crime prevention and control took place between the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province (Vietnam) and the Military Command, Public Security Board of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolikhamxay (Laos).

Attending the talks, on the side of the Nghe An Border Guard Command, there were Colonel Nguyen Cong Luc - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard as head of the delegation; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Command; leaders of departments, offices, and station chiefs of border stations along the Vietnam - Laos border.

On the side of the neighboring country, there were comrades who were commanders and leaders of the Military Command, and the Police Directors of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolikhamxay as heads of the delegation.

Nghe An and the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolikhamxay share a 468.281km long border. Over the years, the functional forces of the two sides have regularly coordinated to organize bilateral patrols, meet, exchange, and discuss the situation, promptly informing each other of news and situations related to territorial sovereignty and border security, thereby jointly resolving incidents occurring on the border in a timely manner.

The forces on duty at the border gates between Nghe An and the three neighboring provinces have maintained strict implementation of regulations on immigration inspection and control, creating favorable conditions for people and vehicles to travel across the border at the border gates, border openings and border crossing points.

In the fight against crime, the situation and measures for coordination in the fight against all types of crime have been regularly exchanged. The Nghe An Border Guard has coordinated with the Police of 3 provinces to collect, research and process more than 5,200 pieces of information related to national security; chaired and coordinated with the Police of 3 provinces sharing the border to successfully fight 6 special cases, arrest 8 subjects related to drug crimes, seize 52 heroin cakes, 15 kg of opium, 48 thousand synthetic drug pills, 7 kg of crystal meth and many other related exhibits.

In the fight against Covid-19, Nghe An Border Guard has established 67 Covid-19 prevention and control teams at trails and openings, coordinating with military and police forces of 3 Lao provinces to patrol, control, and prevent 145 cases/324 people from illegally entering and exiting the country.

In addition, in order to improve the effectiveness of border management and protection, Nghe An Border Guard has organized two training sessions and taught Vietnamese to 60 soldiers of the Military Commands of Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay provinces.

Up to now, Nghe An province and the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay have organized the signing and twinning of 21 pairs (villages - villages) on both sides of the border and 8 Border Guard stations (Vietnam) signed and twinning with 7 Border Guard Companies and 1 Border Gate Police Station. Through twinning activities, the relationship of solidarity and mutual assistance in times of difficulty, mutual economic development, and coordination to firmly protect sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maintain security and order on both sides of the border have been promoted.

At the talks, the two sides informed and discussed the situation of border management and protection, border gate work, crime prevention and control, and maintaining security, order, and social safety in the two border areas in the recent past, and agreed to outline directions, contents, and measures for coordination in the coming time.

Through the talks, the understanding in the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos in general, between the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province and the Military Command, the Public Security Boards of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay in particular, were enhanced in the work of border management, protection, crime prevention and control, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border.
