Ceremony to receive and bury the remains of martyr Nguyen Canh Nam at the International Martyrs Cemetery of Do Luong district

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 28, at the International Martyrs Cemetery of Do Luong district, the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of Do Luong district held a ceremony to receive and bury the remains of martyr Nguyen Canh Nam.

Attending the ceremony to receive the remains were representatives of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Military Command of Quang Tri province; the Military Command of Nghe An province; representatives of the leaders of Do Luong district; and relatives of martyr Nguyen Canh Nam.

Martyr Nguyen Canh Nam, born in 1950 in the old Lien Son commune, now in block 2 of Do Luong town. On July 25, 1967, following the sacred call of the Fatherland, although not yet 17 years old, he volunteered to join the army and was trained at Company 3, Battalion 1, Regiment 1, Division 324.

After training, he was mobilized to fight inQuang Tri battlefield. During the battle at Hill 31, Nhi Thuong village - Gio Linh commune - Gio Linh district - Quang Tri, he was seriously injured and was taken by his comrades and the people to the surgical station in Vinh Moc tunnel - Quang Tri for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he died on February 2, 1968 and was buried by his comrades at tunnel entrance number 12, Vinh Moc tunnel area.

Thanks to information from his comrade, Mr. Thai Ba Lam, the remains of martyr Nguyen Canh Nam were searched for, collected and moved to the International Martyrs Cemetery in Do Luong district by Collection Team 584 - Quang Tri Provincial Military Command./.
