On the evening of August 1, Hanoi City Police provided initial information about a karaoke bar fire on Quan Hoa Street, Quan Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District (Hanoi) that killed three fire police officers while on duty.

Accordingly, at around 1:30 p.m. the same day, the Hanoi City Police Command Center received a report of a fire at karaoke bar number 231 Quan Hoa, Quan Hoa ward, Cau Giay district.

The Hanoi City Police Command Center mobilized 10 fire trucks and more than 60 officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force of Cau Giay District Police and neighboring units to quickly arrive at the scene to organize fire fighting.

With a brave spirit, not afraid of difficulties and dangers, 3 officers of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Team of Cau Giay District Police, including Lieutenant Colonel Dang Anh Quan, Team Leader; Lieutenant Do Duc Viet, Private First Class Nguyen Dinh Phuc, deployed fire fighting and rescue, guided 8 people to safety, and continued to return to search and rescue.

When these officers and soldiers reached the 4th floor, the stairs collapsed, blocking the fire hose line, the ceiling suddenly collapsed, crushing them and killing them.

During the process of organizing reconnaissance and deploying attack teams, officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police force applied safety measures during the performance of their duties in accordance with the Fire Fighting and Rescue Organization Procedures, such as using isolation gas masks, insulating clothing and personal protective equipment provided according to regulations.

However, due to the special nature of the tube-shaped facility with many flammable materials such as foam, leather, wood, etc., the thermal impact of the fire caused some structural components of the false ceiling and decorative materials inside the house to lose their fire resistance limit and collapse.

At 2:15 p.m., the fire was basically under control, with no possibility of spreading. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force continued to search for victims, escape smoke and put out the fire.

On the same day, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his deepest condolences to the People's Public Security force and the families of the three officers and soldiers who died: Captain Dang Anh Quan, soldiers Do Duc Viet and Nguyen Dinh Phuc.

Hanoi City Police are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire.
