Update on new ultrasound techniques in diagnosing musculoskeletal diseases
(Baonghean.vn) - On August 9 and 10, Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital organized a workshop on "Specialized training program on musculoskeletal ultrasound and tissue elasticity ultrasound", aiming to improve knowledge and professional skills, bringing accurate diagnosis results to patients.
The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao Quan - Chairman of Vietnam Ultrasound Association, Board of Directors of Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital and doctors from public hospitals in Vinh city.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao Quan also directly introduced ultrasound elastography as a new technique, helping to determine the stiffness of organs and lesions. Currently, ultrasound elastography is being researched and applied in the assessment of musculoskeletal lesions, in order to bring about accurate clinical diagnosis, as well as monitoring and treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological diseases for patients.
Elastography is used in the diagnosis of diseases: musculoskeletal system, chronic liver, localized lesions, diffuse pathology of the thyroid gland...
Elastography has high specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy in detecting tendon abnormalities in asymptomatic or symptomatic patients.
