Congress of Catholics for Building and Protecting the Fatherland, Dien Chau District
(Baonghean.vn) - On August 17, the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Dien Chau district organized the 8th Congress of Catholics for National Construction and Defense, term 2022-2027. Attending the Congress were 117 delegates representing more than 34,000 Catholics in the district.
According to the report at the Congress, in the period of 2017-2022, the patriotic emulation movement of the peopleCatholicismDien Chau district has achieved many practical results. The focus is on the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, live a good life and follow good religion" which has seen more and more examples of good people, good deeds, and advanced models in labor, production, economic development, helping each other to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and promote humanitarian and charitable activities.

During his term, parishioners voluntarily donated nearly 64,000 square meters of agricultural land and 3,600 square meters of2residential land, dismantling nearly 1,850 m of fence, contributing nearly 4 billion VND, more than 32,000 working days to build new rural areas. The whole district has more than 5,380 Catholic families meeting the standards of cultural families, accounting for 71.4%. Currently, the rate of well-off households among Catholics accounts for 46%, poor households have decreased to 3.8%. Catholics, together with the people in the district, participated in supporting the "For the Poor" fund with more than 650 million VND, supporting the gratitude fund, Tet for the poor with nearly 1.3 billion VND, supporting the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic with more than 1 billion VND.

Inheriting that fine tradition, in the 2022-2027 term, the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Dien Chau district will continue to promote the spirit of great national solidarity and the direction of the Church, build peaceful parishes, cultural families and promote good models of patriotic emulation, contributing to the overall development of the district.
The Congress elected the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Dien Chau district for the 8th term, consisting of 31 members. Mr. Nguyen Duc Ho, Head of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Dien Chau district for the 7th term, was elected by the Congress as Head of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Dien Chau district for the 8th term.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the period 2017 - 2022.
