Every year from July to October of the lunar calendar, people in the areas near Pu Loi peak (Tan Ky) enter the autumn season to harvest bamboo shoots. Due to the special location on the peak of the mountain 900m above sea level, to harvest wild bamboo shoots, people have to wake up at 3am and climb the mountain to pick bamboo shoots. The road up the mountain is high and dangerous, so many people have to stop at the huts along the way to regain strength. Photo: Thanh Phuc |

Currently, in Tien Ky commune (Tan Ky), there are about 2 hectares of bamboo shoots and 200 hectares of bamboo shoots. Bamboo shoots grow naturally, do not require any care, do not cost any money... are considered "forest gifts", bringing "fresh money, real rice" to people every day. To protect this natural resource, those who harvest bamboo shoots agree that when harvesting, each bamboo bush must leave 1-2 buds so that it can develop into a tree, into a bush. Photo: Thanh Phuc |
