However, the weak transport infrastructure system makes it difficult to develop the economy.
Turn potential into growth index
Compared with other mountainous districts,Tan Kyhas the advantage of being located in the central connecting position between the mountainous districts of Nghe An. In addition, according to Mr. Vi Van Quang - Head of the District Economic Infrastructure Department: Tan Ky has the advantage of abundant limestone resources with reserves of about 2.8 billion tons in the Roi area, 760 million tons of various clay mines in the communes of Nghia Hoan, Nghia Thai, Tan Long, Nghia Dung, Nghia Phuc, Dong Van, Nghia Hanh; sand and gravel mines along 60 km of Con River are quite rich; the source of red-yellow Feralit basalt soil in the low mountainous areas is a very rich source of land leveling materials.
In fact, thanks to this advantage, Tan Ky has long been known as a district famous for producing high-quality construction materials. Typical examples are the brand of fired bricks andRoof tilesin Nghia Hoan area affirmed its reputation decades ago. After the manual brick and tile kilns in the area were eliminated, Tan Ky district now has 4 brick and tile factories:Tan Ky Tunnel Bricks and Tiles, Binh An high-tech brick and tile factory, Hoang Nguyen Company Limited's roofing tile and cotto tile factory, Cua State Trading Company's construction material factory with a total capacity of about 120 million bricks and 35 million roof tiles per year. In addition, the district also has 1 factory producing unburnt construction materials with a capacity of 14 million tons/year and 2 factories are completing construction investment procedures.

Continuing the momentum of the previous year, in the first 6 months of 2022, the industrial production value increased by 16.1%; by 2022, the district has 14 OCOP products recognized as meeting 3-star standards and 2 agricultural products recognized as specialty brands, namely Tan Ky goat and Loi bamboo shoots.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Mao - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Hop Commune, one of the localities attracting investment projects in the livestock sector of Tan Long Group Joint Stock Company, shared: As a mountainous commune, about 25 km from the district center, the economy is mainly agricultural, household scale, the commune also has some soil and stone mines for construction materials but in remote areas, difficult to travel and the commune is also concerned about the impact on traffic infrastructure. The locality really hopes that reputable investors will successfully invest in the locality to help the locality shift its economic structure.
At the meeting with the Provincial Socio-Economic Advisory Group, the representative of Tan Ky District People's Committee shared quite exciting information: in the past 2 years, the district has attracted 7 investment projects with a total capital of 909.93 billion VND. Currently, after the Minh Anh Tan Ky Garment Factory project went into production, there are 2 more projects: Van Minh Tan Ky Garment Factory with a total investment of 87.5 billion VND and the Western Urban Area project of Tan Ky town with a total investment of 925.8 billion VND that have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee for investment policy.
Struggling to untie the knot
With high determination and great advantages in natural resources, it was thought that Tan Ky district would develop and surpass other districts; however, due to some bottlenecks and bottlenecks, Tan Ky district has not yet developed as planned and expected. One of the major challenges of the district is traffic infrastructure and power supply infrastructure. Traffic is to connect the communes on both sides of the Con River within the district and connect with surrounding districts. Power infrastructure is to provide electricity for industrial production.

To solve the above bottleneck, initially, the district asked enterprises to mobilize resources to repair and upgrade internal roads in the district such as the section from Roi bridge to Tan An intersection and the road from Tan An commune intersection to Phu Son commune; the road from Ky Tan commune People's Committee to Song Dong Ngoc Nu temple (Nghia Hop commune). In addition, recently, the provincial People's Committee also agreed to invest in adding Roi 2 bridge across Con river and building N5 extended road (now National Highway 7C) from Hoa Son commune to Ho Chi Minh trail (expected to start construction next September). The province also hopes that the road will connect Tan Ky toSoutheast Economic Zoneand open up land funds for the district to expand new areas such as Tan Ky Industrial Park and industrial clusters.

In addition to the above routes, through research we learned that, to connect Tan Ky district with Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu districts, the district is proposing to the Provincial People's Committee to invest in a road from Nghia Binh commune (Tan Ky) to Lang Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) and Tan Son commune (Quynh Luu); requesting Nghe An Electricity to add an investment project to build more transformer stations and 110 KV power lines to Tan Ky district.
Regarding the economic development orientation and economic restructuring of Tan Ky, experts from the provincial Socio-Economic Advisory Group recommend: With great advantages in limestone reserves and clay, sand, gravel mines as well as some other minerals, Tan Ky needs to select enterprises and investors to become a center for the production of new construction materials, applying high technology; in parallel with striving to complete the criteria for building new rural areas, it is necessary to increase the urbanization rate. Currently, Tan Ky's urbanization rate is only at 15-20%, which is quite low compared to the whole province (30-34%), the whole country (41%) and the world at 60-70%. According to experts, when the urbanization rate increases, human resources and investment resources will come and from there, it will help Tan Ky break the division to create a breakthrough.
