(Baonghean.vn) - In the Vietnamese mind, the communal house is the most sacred place to worship the god who protects the peace of the whole village, the place where villagers gather, burn incense and discuss important policies of the village. Beyond that limit, on the beloved land of Nghe An, many communal houses are also "red addresses" that preserve many important historical values in the process of fighting to preserve national independence. Entering the new era, it is the place to continue the source of patriotism for the young generations living and studying on this land.

Phu Nhuan Communal House - when relics blend into contemporary life

Under the roof of Phu Nhuan communal house (Dang Son commune, Do Luong district) nearly two hundred years old, the whole group meeting with the theme "Glorious imprints" organized by Dang Son commune Youth Union left many good echoes in the hearts of young people and Dang Son people. During that meeting, many proud and emotional feelings touched the hearts of young people when they knew that the place they were standing was an important evidence of the difficult historical periods of the land where they were born.

Mr. Tran Van Cuong - former Party Secretary of Dang Son commune told us that Phu Nhuan communal house was built in 1854 in Phu Nhuan village (now hamlet 4) and was restored in the early 20th century. From 1928 - 1929, Phu Nhuan communal house was the gathering point for the people to rise up to fight against tyrants and reduce high taxes.

During the 1930-1931 Nghe-Tinh Soviet movement, the communal house was chosen by the Central Region Party Committee and Nghe An Provincial Party Committee as a meeting place, a place for printing and storing documents, and a public working place for the Soviet government. Here, there are still traces of the nine revolutionary soldiers of the commune who were killed by the French colonialists on September 8, 1930.

During the two resistance wars against France and the US, Phu Nhuan communal house was the headquarters of the Inter-zone Command and the Vietnam-Laos Border Committee. Many meetings took place here to prepare forces to respond promptly to the Lower Laos, Central Laos, Upper Laos Campaigns and the Northwest and Inter-zone V battlefields.

With the historical values and great contributions of Phu Nhuan communal house in the struggle for national independence, especially in the Nghe - Tinh Soviet movement, on September 5, 1994, the Ministry of Culture and Information issued Decision No. 2379 recognizing Phu Nhuan communal house as a National Monument.

In order for Phu Nhuan communal house to not only be a vestige of the past historical period, the Party Committee, government and people of Dang Son commune always consider this place as a place to organize many important events in the breath of contemporary life, a red address leading the next generation back to their roots.

Every year, on the 7th of January, the people of Dang Son commune gather together to hold the Opening Ceremony at the temple to start the joyful day of welcoming the new spring, wishing for luck for the whole year. The temple is also a sacred place for local descendants to burn incense and celebrate the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) every year.

Recently, the communal house has also been the meeting place of a poetry club with nearly 40 members who are poetry lovers in the commune and a gathering place for the Youth Union. Thanks to that, Phu Nhuan communal house still exists intact in every rhythm of people's lives, an indispensable part of the culture of the people of Dang Son commune in particular, and Luong region in general.

Youth and pride under the roof of Vo Liet communal house

During the exciting days of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, we followed the youth union members in Thanh Chuong district to Vo Liet communal house to clean up, cut grass and preserve the landscape of the communal house. Only more than 2 km from the commune center, Vo Liet communal house lies peacefully next to Re field in Minh Tan village (formerly called Khai Tien) with an area of nearly 347 m2.

Built in 1859, Vo Liet communal house not only carries the cultural values of Thanh Chuong land and people but also marks many typical historical events in the Nghe - Tinh Soviet movement (1930-1931). In particular, on the morning of June 1, 1930, when Thanh Chuong people rose up together, gathered at Vo Liet communal house and then marched to the district office to submit their demands. Faced with the strong fighting spirit of the masses, district chief Phan Thanh Ky had to accept the demands of the masses with the promise to submit them to the authorities for consideration and resolution...

Taking on the responsibility of the young generation in preserving and promoting the value of historical relics in the district, comrade Nguyen Tu Hai Phong - Secretary of Thanh Chuong District Youth Union said that every year, local grassroots Youth Union organizations choose this place as a place to return to the source to foster patriotism and national pride for union members and young people.

With that purpose, the members regularly organize cleaning, grass cutting and landscape maintenance. More meaningfully, the traditional Thanh Chuong Soviet revolutionary festival held annually on September 1st at the communal house has also attracted a large number of people and the younger generation to participate. From here, Vo Liet communal house has become a symbol of national pride for Vo Liet people in particular, and Thanh Chuong district in general.

According to data provided by the Nghe An Department of Culture, the province currently has 475 ranked relics, including 5 special national relics, 144 national relics, and 326 provincial relics. Among them, many village communal houses have been ranked to contain invaluable historical values, closely associated with the process of protecting the nation's borders and the struggle to defend the country of the people of Nghe An.

At these relics, Nghe An youth always actively carry out activities to return to the source and carry out many cleaning programs to keep the landscape clean. As Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Le Van Luong affirmed: “For Nghe An youth, the cultural and historical values of historical relics in general and communal houses in particular will forever exist and accompany each young person today. That baggage will be preserved, maintained and promoted to spread the beauty of traditional culture, national spirit, patriotism of generations of fathers and grandfathers who sacrificed themselves to fight for the independence and freedom of the nation”.
