Do Luong market is considered the wholesale market for agricultural products for some neighboring districts: Tan Ky, Anh Son, Con Cuong, Thanh Chuong and Yen Thanh. The characteristic of this wholesale market is that it opens from late at night to early morning.

Under the high voltage electric light, despite the pouring rain, people from all over the place poured into the market by motorbikes, bicycles, and small trucks... Buyers and sellers were getting more and more crowded. Because people buy wholesale to sell retail at rural markets, the buying and selling scene took place urgently and quickly.

Observation shows that goods in the sessionwholesale marketsAt this time, the most popular are fresh fruits of all kinds: longan, apple, mango, banana, grapefruit... According to the shop owners, the fruits are taken directly from the provinces. Depending on the season of each different fruit in each locality, every season is rich in fruits.

Mr. Chien and his wife Tam (in Trang Son commune - Do Luong), the owners of 3 trucks carrying various kinds of fruits, said that every day, no matter how rainy or windy the weather is, they are at the market very early to supply goods to customers. Like tonight, it rained heavily all night, but because this batch of fruits is mainly for people to burn incense on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, they arrived at the market before midnight. Because they serve the 15th day, the amount of goods is also more than usual.

"These fruits are imported directly from many localities. In addition to Nghe An, there are also Son La, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh... each season has its own products, wherever there are fruits in harvest season, we come to buy and supply to people in the region. The goods are taken directly from the source, transported in a short time, so the quality is guaranteed, the price is also "soft" so it is easy to consume. On normal days, my husband and I consume 10 - 12 tons of goods, but on the 15th and 1st of every month, we consume up to 15 - 17 tons of goods," Mr. Chien shared.

In addition to the source of goods by cars, there are also many vegetables, tubers, and fruits of local people transported by motorbikes and bicycles for consumption. The main local products are grapefruit, custard apple, guava, tea... Ms. Nguyen Thi Long in Luu Son commune (Do Luong) said that her husband and wife have a business selling bananas, areca nuts, betel... to serve the incense offering ceremony on the 15th and 1st of the lunar month, so at the market on the evening of the 13th and 29th (lunar calendar) every month, she has goods to sell. To have a source of goods, before that, her husband and wife went to collect goods everywhere in the neighboring communes.

For Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a customer at this night market, her family specializes in retailing vegetables, tubers, and fruits at the market in Linh Son commune (Anh Son). To have a source of goods to sell every day, every morning she wakes up at 3 am, rides a motorbike over 6 km to this wholesale market to buy goods in bulk.

"The goods here are abundant, most of them are newly harvested so they are fresh, the prices are reasonable, easy to buy, so every morning I can buy a heavy truck of goods, with many items such as: green vegetables, tea, tubers, fruits... to sell out during the day", Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan shared.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh - Director of Management BoardDo Luong marketsaid, this agricultural wholesale market operates at night, usually from after 12 midnight until early morning. Each wholesale market session has from 20 to 25 cars carrying goods to sell, with the amount of goods consumed around 100 tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds. The traders selling vegetables, tubers, and fruits here are mostly local people, they buy cars, transport goods from other places to here to sell wholesale to people in neighboring districts.

"Previously, the wholesale market was organized to buy and sell goods every night right on Highway 7, in front of the old Do Luong market area. When the new Do Luong market was put into operation, the frontage road area in front of the new market gate was used to organize the agricultural market at night, in a more spacious and safe way," said Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh./.
