Vinh City General Hospital examines and provides free medicine to 500 people in remote areas of Con Cuong

(Baonghean.vn) - Continuing the practical and meaningful volunteer journey for community health that is regularly organized, on September 17, Vinh General Hospital coordinated with Vinh City Youth Union, Nghe An Department of Health Youth Union and Mon Son Border Guard Station to organize a program to examine, distribute medicine, and provide free health consultation for 500 people in Co Phat village and some neighboring villages in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district.

Co Phat village is located in the upper reaches of the Giang River, bordering the Vietnam - Laos border. The village has 189 households of the Dan Lai ethnic group, and the people's lives still face many difficulties and deprivation..Due to poor transportation, people here have difficulty accessing medical and health care services.

The program of free medical examination, medicine distribution, and health consultation was organized in Co Phat village to share difficulties and create conditions for the villagers and some neighboring villages in Mon Son commune to receive better health care and protection.

The delegation of more than 30 doctors and medical staff, with the support of modern machinery and equipment such as: ultrasound, ENT endoscopy, electrocardiogram, diabetes testing machine...

Here, the delegation examined general internal medicine, general surgery, eye examination, ENT endoscopy, ultrasound, electrocardiogram... and provided health consultation and free medicine to nearly 500 people from policy families and those in difficult circumstances.

In addition, the volunteer group also enthusiastically consults and guides people on how to take care of their own and their family's health; promotes birth control measures and provides free haircuts to people.

Pham Van Son - Deputy Director of Vinh General Hospital shared: "Coming to the people in these remote areas, we can see the hardships of life, the lack of everything, especially the need for medical services. The people here and many other mountainous villages, remote areas are in dire need of health care. Therefore, the journey of the white-shirt soldiers will continue to be extended, to more places where people really need us."
