Gasoline and oil prices drop from 3pm today

Oil and gas companies have simultaneously reduced gasoline prices in the operating period on September 21. Accordingly, from 3:00 p.m. on September 21, gasoline prices will decrease by another 450-631 VND/liter, and diesel will decrease sharply by 1,650 VND/liter.

Accordingly, the price of RON95 gasoline decreased by 630 VND/liter, the selling price is 22,580 VND/liter. E5 gasoline decreased by 450 VND/liter, the selling price is 21,780 VND/liter. This price decreased to the same level as in October 2021. This is also the third timeGasoline priceconsecutive decrease.

Thus, up to now, gasoline prices have been adjusted 25 times, of which 13 times increased, 11 times decreased, and 1 time remained unchanged. With this price reduction, gasoline prices have dropped sharply compared to the peak price of 32,870 VND/liter on June 21, meaning the current price is lower than the time when gasoline prices started to increase due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Diesel prices also dropped sharply, by VND1,650/liter, the current price is no higher than VND22,530/liter.

In this operating period, in addition to stopping spendingPrice Stabilization Fund, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance jointly set aside the Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline at 451 VND/liter (same as the previous period), RON95 gasoline at 450 VND/liter (same as the previous period), diesel at 300 VND/liter (same as the previous period), kerosene at 300 VND/liter (same as the previous period) and fuel oil at 741 VND/kg (same as the previous period).

On September 15, at the press conference announcing the Vietnam Socio-Economic Forum 2022 with the theme of Strengthening the Macroeconomic Foundation, Promoting Recovery and Sustainable Development, Chairman of the Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh said that the National Assembly Standing Committee had recently issued a resolution to reduce environmental protection tax, helping to cool down domestic gasoline and oil prices. Gasoline and oil prices have a clear impact on the domestic basket of goods (food, goods, services).

"If world prices continue to rise above 100 USD/barrel, we will definitely have to consider adjusting taxes and components in gasoline and oil to cool down this commodity. The Government will monitor the world gasoline and oil price situation to propose to the National Assembly for consideration in the upcoming session," said Mr. Thanh.
