Nghe An female athlete won 3 gold medals at Asian Weightlifting Championship

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 12, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung - Director of Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center said that the athlete under the Center's payroll, Pham Thi Hong Thanh, had just won 3 Gold Medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championship taking place in the capital of Manama, Bahrain.

3 Gold Medals won by Pham Thi Hong Thanh in the women's 64 kg weight class, including: Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and Total.

In the snatch event, Pham Thi Hong Thanh showed superiority over her opponents when she completed the competition with a score of 100 kg, 9 and 11 kg more than the two athletes behind her, respectively.

In the clean and jerk event, Hong Thanh continued to excel when he successfully conquered the 117 kg weight, 5 and 7 kg more than the two athletes behind him, respectively.

In terms of total lift results, Hong Thanh achieved 217 kg, 16 kg ahead of his second-place opponent.

Pham Thi Hong Thanh was born in 1999 in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province. At the age of 14, after finishing 8th grade, during a summer vacation in Nghe An to visit relatives, Hong Thanh was introduced to swimming by an uncle who was the leader of Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center.

Here, she caught the eye of weightlifting coach Vu Duc Hoang and was persuaded and selected to join the Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center.

At the 30th and 31st SEA Games, Pham Thi Hong Thanh won the Gold Medal in the 64 kg category. Notably, at the 31st SEA Games taking place in May 2022 at home, she also set 3 records by conquering a total lift of 230 kg.
