Murder suspect arrested after 31 years on the run

Subject Tran Van Dan was ordered by Quy Hop District Policewantedfor murder in 1991. Specifically, at around 1:30 p.m. on August 12, 1991, due to emotional conflicts, Tran Van Dan beat his wife, then went to Quy Hop Tin Union Enterprise and used a sharp knife to stab a man who was a warehouse keeper at the enterprise through the chest.

The victim was taken to the emergency room, but due to the severity of his injuries, he died after more than 5 hours. After committing the crime, Dan fled and lived a vagrant life in many southern localities. In 1997, after finding a permanent place to live, he secretly returned to Nghe An to bring his wife and children to Dak Lak. During the period of hiding, he threw away all his personal documents and changed his middle name to Tran Duy Dan.

Through professional measures and the active support of units, the Wanted and Search Team of the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police, identified information about the subject residing in Dak Lak province. On October 6, 2022, a working group of the Wanted and Search Team went directly to Dak Lak province to verify and search for the subject. At 11:00 a.m. on October 10, 2022, the Working Group suddenly approached and arrested the wanted subject Tran Van Dan while he was at home in Cu Ewi commune, Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province.

At the time of arrest, Tran Van Dan appeared quite surprised, but then remained calm and did not resist in any way.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency, Nghe An Provincial Police are temporarily detaining the subject, continuing to complete the file for handling according to regulations./.
