WOMEN'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOCIETY ARE INCREASING

In her opening report at the conference, the President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Ha Thi Nga, stated that the dialogue was concrete evidence demonstrating the deep affection and concern of the Party, State leaders, and the Prime Minister for the women's movement and the progress of Vietnamese women.

The dialogue conference is an opportunity for women and women's associations at all levels to express their feelings, aspirations, and recommendations to the Prime Minister and ministries, hoping for continued attention and support to promote the comprehensive development and contribution of women to the overall development of the country.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended his respectful greetings, warm regards, and best wishes to all the women, mothers, sisters, granddaughters, and distinguished delegates on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union and Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20th.

"We need to review what we have accomplished and what we haven't, in order to continue developing solutions to improve, motivate, and inspire women to work and contribute even better," the Prime Minister stated, and requested that, in a democratic, frank, and sincere spirit, delegates clearly express their thoughts, aspirations, difficulties, and obstacles; and that ministries and agencies responsibly address the concerns and anxieties of women nationwide.

At the dialogue conference, the Prime Minister and leaders of ministries and sectors listened to, shared, and answered the opinions of female delegates on three main topics: Women and economic development; Women and social security issues and gender equality; and Women and future generations. The opinions concerned mechanisms and policies to promote the role of women in economic development, support women's entrepreneurship, participation in building new rural areas; and support for women in accessing resources such as technology and capital.

Delegates also raised questions about vocational training for rural women; support for screening for some common cancers in women; specific solutions to achieve the target for the proportion of female officials; the policy on registering citizenship for children migrating back to Vietnam; maternity benefits for women; building a safe living environment and comprehensive development for children; parenting education programs; the management of non-public preschools; effective management of information on social media, etc.

At the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented flowers to the Standing Committee of the Central Presidium of the Vietnam Women's Union on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20). The Prime Minister also presented flowers and gifts to 10 outstanding female entrepreneurs who participated in the "Support for Women's Entrepreneurship Project giai đoạn 2017 - 2025".

ENSURING AN ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN'S HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the image of the mother is the most beautiful symbol of Vietnamese women, a symbol of sacrifice, gentleness, diligence, and that this fine tradition has always been upheld by Vietnamese women throughout generations.

Throughout history, Vietnamese women have always played a special role and made immense contributions to the building, protection, and development of the country. Regardless of circumstances or job positions, Vietnamese women have always shone with the qualities of "heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable," as expressed in the eight golden words that President Ho Chi Minh bestowed upon Vietnamese women.

The Prime Minister also shared his understanding of the hardships and difficulties faced by women, and acknowledged, thanked, and highly appreciated their contributions over the past two years, working alongside the Party, State, and people to combat the pandemic, develop socio-economic affairs, protect independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, maintain political stability and social order, and promote foreign relations and integration. Although women are often referred to as the "weaker sex," the Prime Minister stated that this is a reflection of their delicate and gentle nature, their "soft power," and their unique resilience, fortitude, and tenacity.

Reviewing the results as well as the shortcomings and limitations in promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in socio-economic development in the past, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that in the coming time, it is necessary to promote the great role and potential of women, raise their status, and determine that the responsibility of caring for women belongs to the entire political system, helping women to fulfill many tasks and functions; building and developing a female workforce is an objective requirement and an important requirement of the Party and State's personnel work.

The Prime Minister also requested that ministries and agencies use this conference to review and improve mechanisms and policies to promote women's all-round development and ensure their legitimate rights. The Prime Minister also assigned specific tasks to relevant ministries, agencies, and localities regarding the questions and recommendations raised by delegates at the dialogue conference.
