According to the TASS news agency, speaking to the media on October 14, Putin said that approximately 222,000 people had enlisted out of the target of mobilizing 300,000 reserve troops.
The Russian leader also added that he has no plans to expand the partial mobilization order in the near future. Firstly, the Ministry of Defense initially aimed for a lower mobilization target, not 300,000 people. Secondly, Russia has no plans to add troops. He said: “The Ministry of Defense has not made any proposals on this matter. For the time being, I see no need.”
However, the Russian president acknowledged some shortcomings in the implementation of the mobilization order, partly due to outdated registration methods. The database is being updated.
“Only when partial mobilization begins will the quality of the new registration methods become clear. The database is being revised based on modern standards. The more accurate, the better. The quality of the data needs to be improved,” he said.
