Assessing the general situation in the conflict in Ukraine as "tense", General Sergei Surovikin, who is responsible for commanding the entire Russian special military operation in Ukraine, said that Russia is not seeking to increase the pace of the attack but will slowly wear down the enemy's forces.

"The situation in the area of the military operation can be described as tense," said Mr. Surovikin.

According to the Russian military commander, Moscow is not seeking to increase the pace of the offensive in Ukraine.

"We have a different strategy. We will preserve every soldier and continue to wear down the enemy's forces."

Regarding the difficult situation in Kherson, Mr. Surovikin commented: "The enemy is attacking infrastructure and residential areas in Kherson. HIMARS missiles destroyed the Antonovsky Bridge and the Khakovskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant." The Russian military commander said that the country's next plans in Kherson will depend on the situation and does not rule out "difficult decisions being made".

According to the Russian military commander, Russian fighter jets have carried out 34,000 sorties during the campaign in Ukraine, deploying more than 7,000 guided munitions. The fifth-generation Su-57 fighters have shown impressive combat capabilities, hitting multiple targets in each sortie. The air-launched hypersonic Kinzhal missiles have also shown their worth by "puncturing enemy air defense systems".

General Surovikin said that Russian UAVs have flown more than 8,000 sorties during the military campaign in Ukraine and destroyed more than 600 Kiev military targets.

The Russian military commander said that Ukraine has not yet given up its efforts to attack Russian military positions. He accused NATO of asking Kiev to carry out an offensive in the Kherson direction "regardless of military and civilian casualties." Russia estimated that Ukraine was losing 600-1,000 soldiers every day.

Russian troops in Ukraine are currently strengthening their forces, stockpiling supplies and building defensive positions along the front line, Mr. Surovikin said.

"Precision weapons strikes will continue to target military facilities and infrastructure affecting the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army," the Russian General said./.
