Comrade Nguyen Van Thang was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Minister of Transport.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dien Bien province Nguyen Van Thang has just been approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Minister of Transport.
On the morning of October 21, after the National Assembly approved the dismissal of Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The at the 4th session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh submitted to the National Assembly a proposal to approve the appointment of a replacement for the position of Minister of Transport for the 2021-2026 term.
The person introduced is comrade Nguyen Van Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dien Bien province.

On the same afternoon, after discussing in groups and listening to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's report and explanation, the delegates voted by secret ballot. The results of the vote count just announced showed that the National Assembly agreed to approve the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Transport.
The resolution on approving the appointment of positions was also voted through by the National Assembly with 434/458 delegates present in favor (accounting for 87.15% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was born in 1973, from Hanoi. He has been with VietinBank since 1996, and has held many positions, becoming General Director of VietinBank in 2011 and Chairman of VietinBank in 2014.
In July 2018, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was transferred and appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term 2015-2020.
He was then elected Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee. A year later, he became Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee and held that position until he was transferred by the Politburo to Dien Bien and elected Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee from October 2020.
