Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan reveals Anh Tho's income on YouTube
With a farm of more than 10,000 square meters, tending the garden, hoeing the land, and selling seasonal products, Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan said he has a stable income of 50 million VND/month.
- How is life on the hill of Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan?
It’s great! Everyone who asks me says the same thing. I never feel bored and always full of energy when I’m on the hill. The air, the fresh green scenery, the trees, the flowers, everything makes me feel that life is always full of joy and creativity.
On the hill, I do it myself and have helpers. People don't know that I'm the one holding the hoe and trowel to pull weeds, hoe the soil, and build walls. All of that was witnessed by Trong Tan, Anh Tho, Dang Duong, Thanh Lam, Luu Ha An... who were present on the hill. Even if I don't sing, I still have income from selling clean fruits and vegetables from Viet Hoan Farm. When jackfruit season comes, I earn tens of millions, and visitors coming here to experience also bring in a monthly income of never less than 50 million. I think that's a wonderful thing.

Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan currently chooses to live on the hill close to nature. |
- The music genre you pursue has made artists like Viet Hoan much more peaceful than the current showbiz environment and now that he's retired, it seems like he's left all the hustle and bustle behind?
Of course! Living close to nature, loving nature more makes me feel like life is leisurely, not crowded, never having to suffer from traffic jams or endure hot, dusty weather. Honestly, I think this is also a way to inspire and create a lifestyle trend. It's time for an artist to no longer have to work too hard with his voice. I dedicate my emotions to myself, when I feel like singing, I will sing. I don't have to sing to make a living to support myself and my family.
- That said, how can 50 million/month be enough to support the whole family with 3 children's education, plus the expensive cost of performing for artists?
In fact, when an artist is famous, worrying about food, clothing, and money is a simple matter. Artists now have many other sources of income. Like Anh Tho now, YouTube channels alone can earn tens of millions each month, and the money from releasing music CDs still earns a lot. It is not necessary to do live shows or appear on TV to earn money. We have too many things to do, like me now, in addition to my salary from the Voice of Vietnam, the income from conference programs and money from the hills is enough for me to have a decent life.

- It seems you are satisfied with your musical path too soon?
At the age of 18, I won first prize in the solo singing competition of Thai Binh province. This was the milestone that brought me to the path of professional singing when I was recruited to the Hai Phong City Police Arts Team. In 2001, I started working at the Vietnam Light Music Theater and in 2006, I transferred to work at the Voice of Vietnam Radio. For the name Viet Hoan to have a place in the hearts of the audience like now, I had to sacrifice and trade a lot. I think life, music and the audience have given me many things. Before, I never intended to stop my career, stop my passion.
If the longest human life is only 100 years, I would be 56 years old now. I think I will sing until I am 60. I do not want to appear in public with an old, wrinkled, dark image... I do not want to bring music products that are no longer full of vitality to the audience. Although older people will have a good sense of emotion in music, a youthful voice is still the most important thing. I think it is time for me to stop to keep a beautiful image of an artist in the hearts of the audience.

- But if an artist doesn't appear for a long time, the audience will forget, causing his shows to gradually decrease and then almost disappear. What if an artist doesn't appear?
To be honest, from the bottom of my heart, I love life in the suburbs and appearing in public sometimes is just to dedicate a night of music so that the audience won't wonder after a long time without any product. And many friends told me to keep doing it, they will buy tickets to support me but I myself have some difficult things to say. There were many invitations to record radio, television, talk shows but I "avoided" not accepting because I wanted to give the opportunity to other young singers.
I say this not to be hypocritical, but it is true that there are many young singers today and they need more opportunities to contribute. People like me, Dang Duong, Trong Tan, Anh Tho rarely appear on television, not because of salary or anything, but because we are too familiar to the audience. There are people who cover all fronts, but in reality, that is a double-edged sword. I think I should not appear too often.
