If the situation continues without any measures to prevent it, this number will increase to 8 million people by 2030.

The leading disease caused by tobacco is cancer (30% of all cancers). Smoking increases the risk of lung cancer 15 times, pharynx - larynx 10 times, esophagus 7 times, oral cavity and kidney cancer 4 times, bladder 3 times, pancreas 2 times. Smokers also have a higher risk of leukemia, brain cancer than normal people, especially when exposed to passive smoking from the fetus or when they are young.

Types of cancer caused by tobacco include: Lung cancer; Esophageal cancer; Laryngeal cancer; Oral cancer; Nasal cancer; Kidney and bladder cancer; Pancreatic cancer; Uterine cancer; Anal and colorectal cancer; "Private area" cancer.

In addition to cancer, tobacco causes many other diseases: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Cardiovascular diseases (ischemic cardiomyopathy, stroke, lower limb embolism); Digestive tract diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers; Effects on reproductive function in both men and women; Effects on the normal progression of pregnancy.

Smoking causes more deaths than HIV, drugs, alcoholism, traffic accidents and murders combined.
