Arson kills mother and child of lover
Tran Van Nam, 39 years old, was angry because his lover abandoned him so he burned down his house in revenge, causing the death of his wife and 7-year-old daughter.

According to the investigation, Nam worked as a rickshaw driver, living as husband and wife with Ms. Thai, 38 years old, a scrap collector and had a 7-year-old daughter. Recently, the two often had conflicts and broke up. Ms. Thai and her daughter moved to her uncle's house in Chau Phu A ward, Chau Doc city.
Knowing that Ms. Thai had relationships with many people, Nam felt hatred. At about 1:30 a.m. on November 2, he got drunk and thought about being abandoned by his "wife" so he wanted revenge.
Nam drove to Thai's uncle's house and burned the bag of scrap metal in front. He waited until the fire spread to other items and flared up, then he went home to sleep.

Two fire trucks and dozens of firefighters arrived at the scene, working with local forces to put out the fire. After 30 minutes, the fire was extinguished, Ms. Thai's uncle was rescued, but she and her daughter died of smoke inhalation.
After several hours of investigation, the police determined that Nam was the arsonist and arrested him. The suspect confessed to all his actions.
