JICA cooperates with Nghe An to develop value chain for Sanuki garlic in Ky Son district

On the afternoon of November 3, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam.

On the delegation side, there were Ms. Ogawa - Senior Advisor on project construction and representatives of relevant units.

During the period from 2015 to 2020, Nghe An has implemented many projects supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), bringing great efficiency to the socio-economic development of the province.

Within the framework of the JICA program proposed by Japanese enterprises, Farmers Cooperative Japan Company has been approved by JICA to implement the project "Survey to verify sustainable business development with the private sector to develop the value chain for Sanuki garlic in Nghe An".

At the meeting, the two sides continued to exchange and discuss the implementation of the project. JICA and the enterprise requested Nghe An province to create favorable conditions, arrange an area for the processing factory and project office in Ky Son district and complete the project approval procedures to officially implement from May 2023.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van De requested JICA to send an official document to the province on coordinating the implementation of the project. On that basis, the Provincial People's Committee will assign specific tasks to relevant departments, branches and localities to coordinate the implementation. In the immediate future, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and connect with JICA and enterprises to complete the procedures and soon submit the project to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
