(Baonghean.vn) - At the exam to select excellent students in grade 12, Dau Nguyen Quynh Phuong - class 12D1, Le Viet Thuat High School was the candidate who won the valedictorian title in History with a convincing score of 18 points. This is also a very high score, recognizing the ability and efforts of this "non-specialized" female student.

Special love for History

Talking about student Dau Nguyen Quynh Phuong, teacher Hua Hoa Mai - the main teacher of the History Team - Le Viet Thuat High School said that what impressed her most was her love for this rather "selective" subject. That was also the reason she chose Quynh Phuong to join the team.excellent studentof the school since grade 10 and the choice seems to go against common sense.

Speaking more about this, teacher Hua Hoa Mai shared: In recent years, not many students are passionate about History and they study History mainly to prepare for exams, including those who participate in the excellent student team. But Phuong is different, her love for History comes from deep within and that is what convinces me. She also inspires me in teaching. I hope that Quynh Phuong will inspire more students to love History.

Due to family circumstances, Quynh Phuong has lived with her grandparents since she was a child. Her grandparents are retired workers so their economic conditions are not very good. However, in return, she received boundless love from her grandparents and a treasure trove of stories about the resistance war against the US to save the country, of which Phuong's grandfather was a living witness.

Phuong's passion for History was ignited from the days when she could not read or write and was later nurtured when she was inspired and passed on her passion by her teachers. Because of love for the subjectHistorySo Phuong reads and watches a lot of books about history and her habit is to find out the bottom of the problem, the more she reads, the more fascinated she becomes, the more she reads, the more she likes to explore.

Having knowledge of history, Phuong has demonstrated her ability since entering grade 10. This female student said that, from the first lessons, she really liked the way teacher Hoa Mai taught and often listened attentively, actively answering the questions that the teacher gave. Her teaching method also created interest for students, because she did not simply teach from textbooks. Instead, before each lesson, teacher Hoa asked students to read and learn about related issues.

Another thing that attracted Quynh Phuong to the History lessons was that the questions she asked were often quite difficult and did not have answers in the book. She herself believed that she received the attention of her subject teacher because she had the correct answers to many interesting questions she asked. Her understanding of the issue and her clear, coherent answers showed her seriousness towards this subject.

Later, when she was selected for the team, Phuong also made a good impression on her teacher because she was a really hard-working, diligent student who always completed the assignments given by her teacher. In the school's excellent student exams in grades 10, 11, and 12, Phuong was always among the top 3 candidates and 2 years she ranked first.

3 secrets of the History Valedictorian

Thanks to her outstanding achievements, after 3 years of working with Quynh Phuong and the History Team of Le Viet Thuat High School, teacher Hua Hoa Mai always puts her trust in Quynh Phuong. The only thing she worries about is that the amount of knowledge Quynh Phuong has is too broad, so if she doesn't know how to regulate it, she can turn her advantage into a disadvantage.

The time limit for each test is only 150 minutes and that seems to be not enough for Phuong, because she knows a lot, writes a lot and sometimes does not focus on the main points. There are some tests that she does very well but there are others that she cannot complete because of lack of time. Phuong also asks a lot of questions, some of which are outside the textbooks, not official history but unofficial history.

This is also a common mistake with students who like to learn and explore.

Teacher Hua Hoa Mai

To become the valedictorian of History, teacher Hua Hoa Mai and her students had 100 days of diligent review. At one point, the school's Youth Union office became the second home for her and her students.

During the learning process, Phuong herself also set many routes for herself to be able to both grasp the knowledge and have time to practice questions, practice analysis skills, present and do a complete test.

To study History effectively, Phuong shared that there are 3 secrets: first, you have to read and understand the problem, not learn by rote or memorize. When faced with a problem, you need to know how to relate it to other events to grasp the problem systematically. Second, while studying, you must know how to build a mind map to stimulate creativity.

A secret that very few students seem to do is that Phuong records her lessons on her phone. Then, whether she is cooking, working or washing dishes, she can turn on the phone and work and study at the same time. Phuong learns History by heart as easily as she learns a song she loves.

Phuong's efforts were recognized when in the exam to select excellent students in grade 12, Phuong excellently passed the questions and won 18 points to become the valedictorian of this year's exam. This can also be considered a fairly complete exam because to convince the Board of Examiners, Phuong had to answer almost exactly the given answer and demonstrate thinking and creativity in the writing.

Talking about the process of taking this exam, Phuong also said: Almost all the questions are in my exam preparation program. I personally really like the related question about "The mission of Vietnamese youth towards the Fatherland". As soon as I read the question, I thought of the question of what Vietnamese youth need to do to contribute to the cause of protecting the Fatherland and not waste the great contributions that their ancestors and previous generations have left behind. Today's youth also need to love their country, love the heritage values of their homeland. Understanding good values will make each person proud and conscious of protecting the sacredness and preciousness of the Fatherland.

This year, 4/4 candidates of Le Viet Thuat High School achieved high prizes in History, including 2 First prizes and 2 Second prizes.

With this result, Phuong also shared that she was satisfied because although she had not done anything great, at least she had not let down the trust of her grandparents, teachers, and friends. That was also a way for her to show her responsibility to the school, to herself, and to fulfill her mission as a model student.

At the provincial excellent student exam for grade 12, school year 2022 - 2023, the excellent History student team of Le Viet Thuat High School created a "miracle" with 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes and a winning rate of 100%.

This is also the school's highest achievement in History in many years.
