US State Department: Ukraine is ready for peace talks
(Baonghean.vn) - US State Department spokesman Ned Price emphasized that Ukraine is ready for peace negotiations and wants Russia to show its goodwill to negotiate by taking action.
"The Ukrainians have indicated that this war will end at the negotiating table. The Russians have sometimes said the same thing. Unfortunately, we see that this desire of the Russians is paralleled by brutal aggression against the Ukrainian people, increasing attacks on infrastructure, on food stocks, on the Ukrainian water supply system," Mr. Price said at a press conference.
Mr. Price called on Moscow to demonstrate its willingness to negotiate "not just in words but in actions."
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Russia does not set any preconditions for negotiations with Ukraine, but Kiev must show goodwill. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized Ukraine for not needing negotiations, instead their goal is sabotage.
