Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan highly appreciated the efforts, determination, and achievements of the units and localities in the digital transformation of healthcare, making an important contribution to the national digital transformation.

However, Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan also pointed out some existing problems, difficulties, and obstacles that need to be addressed, such as: Many localities and units have not truly paid attention to promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in healthcare; Human resources and information technology infrastructure in units are still lacking and weak due to a lack of financial mechanisms and investment resources for digital transformation in healthcare; The number of medical examination and treatment facilities implementing telemedicine is increasing, however, the effectiveness of implementation is still unclear due to obstacles related to financial mechanisms and relevant legal regulations on medical examination and treatment.

Given these challenges, Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan requested that specialized units under the Ministry of Health, localities, and relevant agencies focus on perfecting institutions and policies, including the drafting and submission to the Government of a Decree regulating the management of medical data; urgently develop a comprehensive digital transformation plan, closely adhering to guiding documents, programs, and projects of the Ministry of Health; strengthen communication about the benefits of digital transformation in healthcare so that agencies, units, people, and businesses understand the benefits and effectiveness of digital transformation in healthcare; and promote cashless payments and the use of chip-embedded citizen identity cards when receiving health insurance-covered medical examinations and treatments at healthcare facilities.

At the conference, delegates also heard several presentations, such as on digital transformation in the management of medical examination and treatment and administration at Vinh City General Hospital…
